Rihanna Just Proved That Americans Have Been Saying Her Name Wrong This Entire Time

"This is why she moved to the UK we’re the only ones that have been saying her name right."

Hi, hello, and welcome to another edition of “the internet is fighting about who’s right and who’s wrong”. The topic of conversation today? Ms Robyn Rihanna Fenty.

The argument all started when the queen of blinking instead of winking did an interview with Vogue to promote her new luxury fashion house, Fenty.

You probably know by now that Rihanna is the first-ever woman to create an original brand at LVMH, the luxury conglomerate behind fashion houses such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Givenchy.

At the beginning of the interview, Rihanna introduces herself, and that’s where the debate began. Watch it for yourself and then we can reconvene.

First look at @Rihanna's Fenty collection at her pop-up in Paris: https://t.co/KU0Uqg8Vlt

So, as you probably just heard, Rihanna pronounces her own name as so: REE-ANNA.

However, if you’re from America, you probably pronounce Rihanna like this: REE-AH-NA.

And now some people are in an existential crisis as they realise they’ve been pronouncing Rihanna’s name wrong this whole time.

so we've been pronouncing Rihanna's name wrong this whole time

A lot of people were like: “Who’s we?”

@boopyape Who's we? How have y'all been pronouncing it?

Which is when the UK vs. US war began.

@boopyape us brits we BEEN pronouncing her name right since dayyy

see this is why she moved to the UK we’re the only ones that have been saying her name right https://t.co/FHJmYBXEO2

@CalumMcSwiggan @boopyape Americans say Ree-ah-na

Some knew full well how to say Rihanna’s name but chose to stick to their own version anyway.

@boopyape I knew how to pronounce her name, but my brain doesn't want to do it that way.

@boopyape I been knew I just still say Ri- ah-nah

There was a little confusion when people began pulling up receipts, claiming Rihanna was pronouncing her name differently in various songs.

@boopyape She’s been trying to tell yall...

@boopyape So uh...what are we gonna do about this tho

There was even a poll, which was almost too close to call.

At the end of the day though, Rihanna probably knows how to say her own name better than any of us.

If you want more proof, here you go.

BUT I’M NOT DONE YET! The whole debate got me wondering how people say Ariana Grande’s name.

Let’s ignore the last name, we already know we’ve been saying that wrong our whole life. It’s GRAN-DEE people, not GRAN-DAY.

Is it A-REE-AH-NA?

Or do you pronounce it AH-REE-AH-NA?

For reference, Ariana pronounces it this way.

I’ve just gotta know what y’all think. The comments are down below, you know what to do!
