Captain America Was Meant To Eat Bloody Mashed Potatoes In "Infinity War" But The Scene Was Scrapped For Going "Too Far"
After it was announced that Captain America was originally meant to be beheaded by Thanos, Marvel writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely revealed there was another scene involving Steve Rogers that went a little too far...
Avengers: Infinity War came out well over a year ago now — April 26, 2018, to be exact — and we're still finding out brand-new information that throws everything into a different light.
The latest revelation includes a deleted scene, Captain America, and bloody mashed potatoes...I guess I better explain.
In a recent interview, Marvel writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely — who are responsible for Infinity War and Endgame, as well as other MCU instalments — were asked what scenes had been cut from the movies because they went a little over the line.
"There was one scene — it was in Infinity War," Christopher told IGN, revealing they wrote the scene but didn't shoot it. "It was part and parcel of a whole thing where we realized we were picking up the characters too early in their arc before Thanos had gotten to them."
According to Christopher, the scene involved Black Widow, Falcon, and Captain America in hiding following the events of Civil War and, somehow, bloodied mashed potatoes were brought into the equation.
However, when the writing duo presented Marvel chief Kevin Feige with the idea, he shot it down pretty quickly.
Christopher concluded: "Yeah, maybe we went a little too…something."
This isn't the first deleted scene involving Captain America that went a little over the line. Back in July, it was revealed that the original story of Endgame had Thanos decapitating Chris Evans' beautiful head and presenting it to the surviving Avengers.
All I want to know is what on Earth did Captain America/Chris Evans do to deserve this treatment?!
