This is your official warning — there are BIG SPOILERS for Avengers: Endgame from here onward! So please, if you haven't seen it yet and don't want the whole movie ruined, close this tab, shut your computer down, and go to the cinema immediately.
OK, you're still here? Fab, let's get going.
So, last week, after more than a decade and 22 movies, Marvel's Infinity Saga came to its conclusion with the release of the highly anticipated Avengers: Endgame.
Endgame served as a direct sequel to the previous Avengers movie, Infinity War, which saw supervillain Thanos use the Infinity Stones to wipe out half of all living creatures in the universe with a single snap. It was all very dramatique.
With half of their comrades now piles of dust, Endgame centred around the surviving Avengers and their mission to undo Thanos's evil work. I guess you could say the movie, which is being lauded by critics and audiences alike, was a success — it raked in more than a billion dollars at the global box office and it hasn't even been in cinemas for a week yet!
Of course, most of the star-studded cast showed up for the world premiere in LA last Monday, including Scarlett Johansson and Brie Larson, who both wore Infinity Stone–inspired jewellery. Each wore the stones on their left hand in a similar style to Thanos, and it had fans freaking out.
But it looks as if Scarlett might've been hiding a spoiler in plain sight, right under our noses!
As you can see in this close-up, Scarlett is wearing all of the Infinity Stones. However, one is more prominent than the others — the orange Soul Stone.
Now, if you've already seen Endgame, you might find this quite interesting, but if you haven't, let me quickly catch you up to speed. The brief version goes something like this...
The surviving Avengers decide to go back in time using the Quantum Realm and collect all of the Infinity Stones, which they can then use to reverse Thanos's snap. They split into teams and head off to different locations, with Scarlett's character, Black Widow, going to the planet Vormir alongside Hawkeye in search of the Soul Stone.
However, when they get to Vormir, they're met with a problem: To retrieve the Soul Stone, one of them must die. After a lot of back-and-forth, Hawkeye tries to sacrifice himself, but Black Widow saves him, and after an emotional moment when she tells Hawkeye to let go, she falls to her death.
Yep, Black Widow dies, something that nobody really saw coming, considering it was widely reported that a Black Widow movie was in the works.
Anyway, back to the Endgame premiere and Scarlett wearing a massive Soul Stone in front of our goddamn faces. We already knew from Infinity War that someone has to die in order to get the Soul Stone, and Scarlett was basically walking around with a sign saying, "I'M ABOUT GET IT LOL!"
Also, this picture from inside the world premiere makes so much more sense now that we know Black Widow dies. Hindsight really is 20/20, huh?
Anyway, that's all I have. I'm going back to sitting in a dark room and thinking about how Tom Holland is a precious angel who deserves an Oscar for his five seconds of screentime. Bye!
