Dolly Parton Had A Baby Left At Her Gate For Her To Raise, And 15 Other Celebs That Have Talked About The Incredibly Strange Things That Fans Have Done For Them

Being famous and having intense fandoms go hand in hand, and often some fans can take things to a bizarre or even scary level with their 'support'.

So, here are 18 bizarre, ridiculous, and scary things fans have done to celebs:

1. Taylor Swift

Taylor certainly has a diehard following, and she's seen her fair share of loving fan sentiment, she's even spoken about the honour of seeing fans that have her name tattooed on them. 

One that stands out for its unusualness, however, was when a dedicated fan showed their love by giving her a large real turtle shell that had her own face painted on it. She unsurprisingly remarked, "that was definitely a first!" 

We don't know where the shell came from, but it's certainly a peculiar gift!

2. Zac Efron

Zac's fandom blew up after his appearance in High School Musical and he's received all sorts of gifts and fan mail ever since. One piece, in particular, stands out though – a fan once sent a piece of their own skin to the movie star.

He seemed to take it pretty well, however, and found it more funny than creepy – here was his response:  "Dude, imagine when I got it! It’s hilarious because you don’t know how to handle it. You’ll never get around it. I love all my fans."

It wasn't explained where or who the skin had come from, and I'd probably advise against this particular outpouring of love because, you know, it's pretty creepy. 

3. Robert Pattinson

Robert's rather inconvenient fan 'gifts' came at a time when he was trying to quit smoking and was using toothpicks to try and alleviate the addiction. He didn't quite realise what his toothpick usage would mean, however, as he described:

"I quit smoking the other day and didn't even really realise I'd said anything about it. I've been chewing these fucking toothpicks all the time. Someone noticed in Cannes and literally the next day in Lisbon, then in Paris and in Berlin there were about 20 people on the red carpet giving me huge amounts of toothpicks. Thousands of them."

4. Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga has her fair share of avid followers, and the Little Monsters aren't short of creativity. One fan once surprised the singer with an interesting gift while she was performing onstage in Brisbane. 

While she was performing, the star was handed a large dildo from a fan. She was of course a bit shocked, but also found it funny, saying, “Are you telling me I’m not getting enough action?" 

She reassured the fan, if this indeed was the intent, by adding “Thank you very much for worrying about my sex life – but I will assure you that all is well!”

5. Beyoncé

The music goliath has obviously been sent some extravagant gifts in her time, but she once reviewed a rather outlandish present. She was once sent a diamond-encrusted jar of Vaseline. Yep, that's right, someone clearly thought queen B couldn't simply de-chap her lips without a bedazzled jar!

6. Tom Felton

Harry Potter is one of the biggest movie franchises with one of the most devout followers. So, being a man character you're bound to attract some attention. While much of it will be positive, there are some standout "WTF" moments indeed. 

Tom shared one experience with a fan that is kind of bizarre and frankly a bit scary:

7. Daniel Radcliffe

Sticking with the Potter alumni, Daniel has also spoken about the odd things fans have done for him. He's been sent a variety of weird and wonderful gifts, including giant ears, Freddy Krueger masks, and scrapbooks of himself.

He also mentioned that one time, a fan sent him a photo of a milk bottle outside of a front door – the weird/scary thing being that it was his front door. 

8. Harry Styles

Ever since One Direction took off, Harry has been inundated with fans trying to get a glimpse of the star – when he became famous his family resorted to keeping the curtains shut at their family home to stop people looking in all the time which he said was "a bit weird." 

He also revealed that the strangest thing he'd received was a sanitary towel which had his name on it. This was over a decade ago now, so who knows the things he's been sent since his stardom has risen even more, but a personalised sanitary towel is certainly something...

9. Tom Hiddleston

Of course, Marvel stands up against any movie franchise in terms of dedicated fandoms, and Tom's character Loki became somewhat of a fan favourite. The actor revealed that he's received all sorts of strange fan mail over the years, but one odd trend in fans sending him things came as a result of a specific moment in the first Thor movie, as he explained: 

"I have a spear in my hand and I make a huge leap to spear Chris – but he dodges out of the way. The spear is embedded into the ground, so I use the spear as a lever to spin myself around and kick him in the chest.

Well, some fans have interpreted this as emblematic of my hidden talent at pole dancing. I’ve received a surprising number of depictions of myself in a pair of tight briefs and a horny helmet dancing on a pole. That is pretty weird and hilarious."

It's safe to say everyone would be pleased to see Tom take up pole dancing if he ever fancied it. 

10. Jessie J

In terms of fans going the extra mile to be like their heroes, one teenage girl took this waaay too far in attempting to look like Jessie J. The singer was left in a cast when she fell off a stage back in 2011, famously ignored doctor's orders, and performed in a cast at Glastonbury.  

One fan, in order to imitate Jessie's look, reportedly broke her own leg so she could wear a cast. The girl contacted the singer, with images of her leg accompanied by messages like "I will do anything to be just like you."

A spokesperson for Jessie expressed the shock and fear felt by her, saying:  "She's horrified this happened. She was sad that a fan hurt herself to look like her – but she was also scared for her own safety."

11. Ariana Grande

There are, of course, some fans who are so obsessive that the recipient, in this case, Ariana, has to take some action in order to fend them off. A 29-year-old man was told by authorities to stop sending items to the pop singer after Arianas' label complained.

The "gifts" that were sent to her included 8 Yankee candles, animal calendars, a three-piece mirror set from Kmart, a $200 anklet from Kay Jewelers, a rock from the mountains of New Hampshire, and most bizarrely, a 42.5-pound pumpkin... 

The man was undeterred by threats to press charges and was eventually given a three-year probation sentence. 

12. Dolly Parton

Dolly opened up about how the fandom she received became more fanatical and intense, explaining one specific instance that is honestly shocking. Talking about it, she said: 

"Years ago, when I first started being a big star, I had fans that were fanatical. It was when 'Jolene' was a big hit. We came home one day and there was a baby in a box at our gate with a note in it. The note said, ‘My name is Jolene, my momma has left me here and she wants you to have me’. Of course, we all freaked out!"

They contacted the Department Of Health And Human Services, who took the child.

13. The Jonas Brothers

It's no doubt that the trio had a hefty teenage fanbase in their heyday, and while they'd receive plenty of loving fanmail and gifts, one particular one definitely stood out. 

They revealed that they'd once been sent a dead shark. Yes, that's right, a dead shark. Nick described what the 'gift' was like, saying: 

"It wasn't a real big shark though. It was only a baby shark but they'd preserved it in this tube for us. That was odd. They didn't even leave a note explaining. It was just, 'Here's a dead shark.'"

Kevin noted that they had no idea where it came from, adding, "we're still trying to figure out how they actually went about buying a dead shark. I mean, is there such website as Buyadeadshark.com?"

14. Jeffrey Tambor

Jeffrey's plight came as a result of his iconic character in Arrested Development. Fans of the show have since taken it upon themselves to bombard the actor with character-related jokes. First of all, fans would come up to him and scream "no touching' in his ears as a nod to his character. 

Worse than that though, whenever the actor stays in a hotel, he'd be sent up frozen bananas  (another joke from the show). Jeffrey actually hates bananas, however, so this has caused him a fair amount in inconvenience over the years. 

15. Kesha

Kesha's peculiar fan-sending experience happened twice, the second time came at a time when she was going through rehab. Having no access to her Twitter during her time at the treatment centre, her good friend sent out a request for her fan base on her behalf, asking them to send more a certain body part for the singer to use to make art: 

"Hey guys this is K's friend again. She's doing well and needs more of your teeth to make art with at the treatment center. She misses you :)"

This came after Kesha had already made a bra out of various fans' teeth a couple of years before. The first time, upon request, she'd received over 1,000 human teeth from different fans, and explained what she'd done with them: "I made it into a bra top, and a headdress, and earrings, and necklaces. I've worn it out!"

Unfortunately, the second time around the centre had certain rules about what could be sent there, and "human remains" were forbidden. 

16. Norman Reedus

The Walking Dead actor has received plenty of bizarre gifts from fans throughout the years, notably, he once got sent a breast implant by a fan which is certainly some out-of-the-box thinking. 

He's also met some insistent fans who've given him some seriously sentimental treasures, as he revealed: 

"This kid gave me his Special Olympics medal he won for soccer. He was one of the people waiting at the fence when I left set this morning. A girl and her brother recently gave me a New York fireman uniform from their father who died in 9/11. I was, ’you can’t give this to me’ and they were so insistent."
