"I cried throughout pretty much the whole final episode. That show was perfection in my eyes and ended exactly when and how it should have, but I was still a sobbing mess."

"Mona, Homer’s long-lost mother returns to him, but realises she must go back into hiding (she’s an activist, wanted by the government). The final scene of this episode is heartbreaking. Under the darkness of night, Homer watches his mother leave. He has no idea when, or if, he’ll ever see her again.

There’s a long, still shot of Homer sitting on the hood of his car, clearly devastated. At the very end, he sees a shooting star. There’s no music, just silence. I cry every damn time. It’s a genius work of art."

"Including 'The Quarterback' from Glee feels like cheating, honestly. But, the scene where Carole, Burt, and Kurt are going through Finn’s belongings is heartbreaking. The second Carole starts her monologue, to the tearful embrace at the end, just devastating. I can’t think of another scene that has made me cry so much."

"When Monica and Chandler find out that they can't have children together. They were nervously awaiting the test results, and when they find out they were so clearly scared and devastated. I shed more than one tear – it was just so randomly heartbreaking that they made it so hard for them to conceive!"

"The final scene in Blackadder Goes Forth. Their desperation to figure out a scheme and a way out, and then the resignation when they realise this is it. To this day the music and the field of poppies still make me cry."

11. The IT Crowd

"The episode called 'Jen The Fredo' has a scene that always gets me. Roy, having been dumped by his girlfriend is very down in the dumps and, being coerced into a D&D game by Jen, has to 'show some Johns a good time'. 

However, Moss, his friend, is the dungeon master and takes it upon himself to give Roy some much-needed closure. It's obviously played for laughs but it's such a beautiful scene between two supportive friends that it always gets to me."
