27 Pet Products From Chewy That May Not Be Exciting, But Are Incredibly Useful

Products so incredibly useful, you'll wonder how you (and your fur baby) lived without them.

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Just so you know, BuzzFeed collects a share of sales and/or other compensation from the links on this page. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

    1. An eight-panel wall-mounted gate and playpen for folks looking for ways to keep their pet(s) safe without putting them in a crate for long periods of time. This sturdy unit can be assembled as a gate, or configured into a pen by using extra panels.

    Chewy, bethj/ Chewy

Just keep in mind that, standing at 30 inches tall, this gate is best for small and medium-sized dogs, as larger dogs could jump over it if they wanted to.

Promising review: "I'm about to be a first-time fur dad and this gate was a heaven-sent for my puppy-proofing extravaganza. My anxiety about creating a confined space alleviated the moment I started reading the instructions. Attention to detail is A+++. Gate itself is extremely easy to set up and customize. It's metal so no need to worry about chewing accidents. I needed one permanent gate with a door for the kitchen area and one flexible one to block the entrance while I'm out. Not only I reached my goal but also I ended up with one extra panel and used that to block the electric plugs and cables behind the TV. The door itself is also designed pretty smartly. Swing direction can be customized. It stays open all the way if it's been pushed back, and it closes on its own otherwise. There are two notches on the bottom of the door that are useful when you don't want to lock the door fully but still want to close it. It's a well-thought, beautifully constructed product. You can feel the love and it's for sure was designed by dog lovers." –hazzybear

Price: $119.99 (available in three colors)

    2. A set of carpeted pet stairs so your pet can easily get onto the bed, couch, or chair on their own. The stairs can be aligned straight, or finagled around the corner of a bed or couch.

    Chewy, Shiloh/ Chewy

They can support pets up to 75 pounds.

Promising review: "These steps were super easy to put together. Quick and simple. They are very sturdy. My little Chihuahua uses them every day to get on the couch. My Labs could even use them." –Skovach

Price: $22.99+ (available in two colors)

    3. An extremely durable airline-approved pet carrier that's great for traveling with your pup, as well as a safe space for them to sleep while on the go. After trying a variety of different pet carriers, this bag is my favorite, thanks to its spacious design, sturdy silhouette, top handles, messenger strap, and thick-yet-see-through mesh paneling (many of the other carriers I've tried are SO dark, and my little man just isn't about it).

What's more, this bag has a spacious zip pocket on one end, so you have somewhere to store your wallet, phone, and keys, instead of having to turn into *that* person with lugging multiple bags through the airport.

Promising review: "We've been using this since we picked up our cavapoo puppy about a month ago and couldn't recommend it more. The carrier itself is light but sturdy, airy, and has fit under the seat of three different airplanes. Our pup absolutely loves it and chooses to sit in it both on the plane and in the car on either end of our trip. Couldn't recommend it more!" –toastypeanutthepoo

Price: $139+ (available in two sizes and four colors)

    4. And an extremely durable dog tote bag to use when you're not on a flight or long trip, but still need somewhere safe to stow your best pal. Made with the same high-quality materials as Roverlund's travel carrier, the tote bag offers just as much safety and support for your pup, with a narrower silhouette made with running to the store in mind. It has an ergonomic neck scoop so your pup can take in the scene, and a heavy-duty rope leash that will keep your pup comfortable and secure within it.

The Black and Yellow Roverlund Dog Tote

While this product is new to Chewy and has yet to be reviewed by shoppers, I can personally attest to its durability, as I own the large black and yellow version. My 11-pound Jack Russell-Chihuahua fits in it perfectly, with enough room to turn around, stand up, and lay down. Inside the bag, there's a firm bottom that comes with a removable cover in case your pup has an accident; on the outside, there's a pocket for whatever you may need to store

Price: $139+ (available in two sizes and four colors)

    5. And, while we're at it, a matching durable pet bed, in case you like to be matchy-matchy like I often do. The Roverlund Dog Bed is designed to hold up against scratches and is resistant to dirt and stains. What's more, unlike traditional round or rectangular beds, it's an octagon, which gives your pup plenty of little cozy corners to snuggle up into.

The green camo Roverlund pet bed with a dog in it

It's best for pups 30 pounds and under.

Price: $169 (available in two colors)

    6. A quilted orthopedic dog bed that's beloved by Chewy shoppers for its washable removable cover and bolstered design.

    Chewy, blaze/ Chewy

The jumbo bed can support dogs up to 125 pounds.

Promising review: "I ordered the FurHaven Orthopedic dog bed for my Rhodesian Ridgeback and absolutely love it! I finally found a dog bed that actually fits my dog. He’s not lying half off of it all the time and he sleeps so much better as he doesn’t wake up during the night to readjust his sleeping position. The dog bed itself is very durable and has easy access to removing the cover for washing. This was a primary concern for me. Dog beds must have a removable cover for cleaning. I bought the jumbo size as my dog averages between 95-100 pounds. The jumbo fits him fine. My big boy can basically destroy a bed purchased in local stores in about three months. I expect this FurHaven bed to endure. And it fits him! Thank you for your great product! A very satisfied customer." –Jody

Price: $19.99+ (available in six colors and five sizes)

    7. A top-selling pet ramp to ensure your pup can easily get into and out of the car. The folding ramp weighs about 10 pounds and can support up to 150 pounds. Additionally, it's lined with a nonslip mat that will help give your pup more traction while they're making their way into your ride.

    The foldable pet ramp

Promising review: "One of our 12-year-old huskies has arthritis. He had a hard time jumping into the back of our Outback, and is too heavy for me to lift alone. After seeing someone use this at the dog park, I bought one. It took the dogs about five minutes to get the idea. I make the other two old dogs use it also, and they like it! Now I can take them anywhere by myself. It is lightweight, folds in half, and very secure to use." –Louise

    Price: $69.95

    8. A rolling pet backpack so you can wear your pup or kitty on your back, or roll them around in royal-level comfort. It's roomy, water-resistant, and perfect for puppies who aren't quite the best leash walkers yet.

    Chewy, crazyCatLady/ Chewy

Promising review: "This is a wonderful doggie carrier, car carrier, and under-restaurant-table 'crate.' It's easy to use. I would buy it again when another is needed, but I think this will last a while. What's most important is that our pup is OK with it. We can close it up or leave it a bit open for their head to peek out with the tether on. Just make sure to watch the tether length so your pup does not get wrapped up in it." –Papillon

Price: $36.99+ (available in two colors)

    9. A Petmate kennel that will quickly become a safe space for your pup. I put my pup, Cash, in his at night and he sleeps like a baby. It has two doors, so it's great for transporting your pup to the vet, too — some doggies get scared and back into their crate, so being able to pick them up from the top is super helpful.

    Chewy, KatH/ Chewy, Erica212/ Chewy

Promising review: "I love this kennel for my cat because of the top-load option. It is easy to lower my cat from the top and he doesn't feel scared. The vent holes are very smooth as not to cut into my cat's paws as he looks out. Whether you have a dog or cat I know they will love it! I will use mine only to transport our cat to the vet or for out-of-town visits. It's very easy to assemble and I love that it is made in the USA!" –Charlie

Price: $39.51+ (available in three colors)

    10. A booster seat for your small pet, so they can ride safely and see out the window whenever you take them in the car. It comes with three stabilizing attachments and buckles into the seatbelt, so your lil' buddy will be secure.

    Dolly/ Chewy, misslee/ Chewy

Promising review: "Easy to install, plush and works great. Looks and fits perfectly in our car. Our Pom is very happy traveling in it and can both look out the window and if he wants, take a nap. We have to be sure to look in back, as we sometimes almost forget he’s there." –Guitarman

Price: $76.99+ (available in two sizes)

    11. A Snuggle Puppy, so your pup won't feel quite as alone when you're not around. What seems like a slightly larger-than-usual stuffed toy is actually a behavioral aid device complete with a heartbeat that can be turned on and off. Take it from someone who has one for her puppy: It's life-changing!

    Chewy, Remi/ Chewy

Promising review: "My little girl came from a house full of dogs and suddenly found herself the only one in her new home! Needless to say, she was very unhappy in a kennel all alone and did a good amount of whining and crying. =( I bought her this puppy and put it in her kennel and she settled down within minutes that first night. Now when I put her to bed she snuggles up to it and settles down quickly. She’s now taken to dragging it around the house with her, so we may have to buy another!" –Playpen

Price: $38.93 (available in four colors)

    12. A self-cleaning litter box for the cat who loves having a clean place to go and the cat parents who hate having to clean up after them. The automated litter box scoops waste away to keep the box and surrounding area smelling fresh for days on end. It might be pricey, but can you put a price on not having to clean a litter box yourself anymore?

    Chewy, AutoButt/ Chewy

One unit can be used by up to four cats.

Promising review: "I have 3 cats, one who is 20 pounds. My only regret is putting off buying a Litter Robot sooner. The price gave me pause several times, but it has been worth every penny. I had been scooping four litter boxes every day for 10 years. Now I change one bag every five days and add about 2 cups of litter back, which takes about a minute to do. I’ve reclaimed all that floor space with a single unit, and I feel SO much better about the hygiene. The litter is completely sifted seven minutes after one of the cats uses it. My Connect tells me the average use is six times a day. I can’t imagine manually cleaning the old boxes six times a day, seven minutes after each one goes. We’ve had ours for six months and I’ve wiped the inside with damp paper towels once: no major cleaning has been needed so far. It might be an extravagance for a single cat, but it is a life-changer for a multiple cat household. PS: Their videos on how to get the cats to switch are worth watching. I had one hold out who took a week to adjust. Keeping a gross dirty box as the alternative choice convinced him to convert. " –JeanneQ

Price: $499 (available in two colors)

    13. A jumbo pack of disposable pee pads so your pup will be able to sniff their way to the right place to go potty. The pads are designed with pheromones to draw your pup to the right spot. And once they potty, the pad absorbs liquid and neutralizes the odor.

    Puppy sitting on the pad

Promising review: "Very absorbent. Pads absorb quickly. Pads have wet-lock gel around the edges preventing overflow. Wee-Wee Pads don’t stick to themselves like other pads I’ve tried, making them easy to put down quickly." –Lisa

Price: $5.99+ (available in nine counts)

    14. A pop-up playpen for pets and pet parents who like to stay on the go. Whether you're headed to a winery, relative's house, or friend's baby shower, having this little playpen on hand will let your friend stay comfortable while also keeping them from roaming and getting into any trouble. It folds down easily and comes in a convenient carrying bag.

    Chewy, Romi/ Chewy

Promising review: "This thing is awesome. I have a cat recovering from PU surgery and the biggest dog crate we could find barely fit his bed and his litter box, and with his cone on he could barely move around. I got the largest size of this exercise pen and it has made everything so much easier. Plenty of room for his bed, litter box, and food and water as well as a little extra room in the center so he can actually move around a bit. It has been holding up extremely well. When my cat is healed it will be great for my Yorkie puppy when outside or camping. The top zips on easily and the flooring material is very easy to sweep and disinfect. If you have a small animal recovering from surgery this is a must-have!!" –Ashley2277

Price: $47.99+ (available in four sizes)

    15. An artificial grass pad to help train your pup to go potty on grass, or serve as an emergency potty during inclement weather or late nights. While you can use this at any stage of potty training, it's especially helpful for anyone with pups who aren't yet fully vaccinated against parvo and can't yet be exposed to ground where other dogs may have been. It's treated with an antimicrobial finish that prevents odors from lingering and comes with a drawer to catch waste. So, while it may seem a little silly, it's actually quite practical.

    The artificial grass pad

I had one of these when Cash was a teeny puppy (before he had had all of his vaccines and was allowed to freely go outside), and it was a godsend for potty training.

Price: $22.95+ (available in two sizes)

    16. An odor-eliminating spray that helps remove stains and odors fast. Each spritz releases the bacteria that feeds on your pet's accidents, eliminating the urine completely and deterring your pet from peeing in the same spot again.

    The spray

Promising review: "I am convinced that this is a must for anyone getting a puppy! This helped immensely with potty training. Removed the smell entirely and puppy was never enticed to have an accident in the same place. Use on hardwood floors, tile, and her bed." –Mackey

    Chewy, Megan/ Chewy

Promising review: "I have 2 small dogs and.was tired of looking at a wire crate. This was by far the easiest thing I have assembled because the directions were perfect. Looks very luxe with plenty of room." –Debbie

    Samantha/ Chewy

Promising review: "The FURminator was recommended by friends at our local dog park. Not only does it do a wonderful job at removing a great deal of hair from Lucy, our yellow lab, but, in addition, she loves it! She sits or lies still and lets us FURminate everywhere (being careful of her sensitive areas, of course — as FURminator’s instructions recommend)." –Greg

Price: $31.95+ (available in three sizes and colors)

    19. A shaggy Best Friends by Sheri cuddle bed that will make your pet feel cuddled even when you're too busy to snuggle with them. It's made with heat-reflecting fabric, so it will keep them warm, too.

    dog in the bed

Promising review: "Ruby loves her new bed! She has plenty of room to stretch out and it’s very soft. We ended up tossing the old bed that she’s had since she was a pup so that one was 12+ years old! She was a little sad to see that one go but that didn’t last long once she snuggled into her new bed! Out of all the dog beds in our house, this is her fave." –Rebecca

Price: $25.14+ (available in four sizes and two colors)

    20. A bone-shaped lick pad to help distract your dog long enough to groom and bathe them. Simply spread peanut butter onto it, stick it to the wall and fall in love with just how well it works.

    The blue lick pad

    a dog with the bells
    Gigi/ Chewy

Promising review: "I have never used potty bells before but, I am so glad I purchased these. I have had dogs in the past who would scratch at the door and bark. This tore up my door and wall and the barking, could be annoying. I bought these and within a week my 8-week-old puppy was using them. Instructions were easy to follow. The bells are well made and I can hear them from anywhere in the house. I definitely would recommend!" —SimbasMom

Price: $7.99+ (available in eight colors)

a cat with a package of Greenies
    Ronnield8727/ Chewy

Promising review: "I have to hide these in our fridge because the cats can find, climb, tunnel to where ever I have them hidden (luckily they do not know how to open the fridge yet). By far, Greenies are their favorite snack available on the market. It makes me feel good as a cat parent to give them treats that are both tasty and good for them. They have beautiful teeth and Greenies helps keep them that way." –Lakiyea

a dog with the pill pockets
    Natalie/ Chewy

Promising review: "My dog was recently put on a new medicine for his liver, and he is the hardest of my furbabies to medicate (and the other two are cats). He can find a pill in ANYTHING! Cheese, other treats, meat, and anything under the sun. I was having to force a large pill down his throat and was getting my fingers chomped on daily. I didn't have high hopes for this, but I decided to give it a try. Oh my gosh, life-changing. I didn't let him see me prepare it and gave it to him like any other treat. He was hesitant at first, but he ate it and was looking for more. I've loved Greenies forever, and this is another great product." –Sydney

    the tie dye cooling vest
    CGR56/ Chewy

Promising review: "I purchased the cooling vest for my 6-year-old French Bulldog. I just wet it down and it slips easily over her head and onto her body. Without the cooling vest, she could only walk about five minutes without heavily panting. When she is wearing the cooling vest and walk in a shaded area she can walk 25 minutes and doesn’t pant. The vest is a game-changer and quickly dries in the sun. I highly recommend it." –Brooke

Price: $25.57+ (available in nine sizes and two colors)

a dog with the bully stick
    CockapooDogMom/ Chewy

Promising review: "I have tried many. Best Bully Sticks are the perfect size for my 50-pound dog. I can give him one once a day and not feel like he is getting too many. He has a bit of a sensitive stomach and these seem to have no adverse effect. When allowed to choose between an elkhorn, peanut butter stuffed bone, and a Best Bulky Stick, he always picks the stick. And bonus, there is minimal order. Highly recommend." –Patsy
