"If you fall in love with the process, then the end result doesn't matter so much. You get to enjoy the road and not be so concerned by how it will turn out in the end."

First of all, if you haven't seen the hilarious Stop and Go movie yet, you should probably go and watch it.

To celebrate the release, we spoke with the film's stars, Whitney Call and Mallory Everton, who answered some of our pressing questions.

What is the first thing you do in the morning?

Mallory: I usually go pee. Because my bladder's usually full because it's very small.

Whitney: Ah, I take my retainer out, because by the end of the night, that thing is nasty.

    Who is the better driver?

    Mallory: Whitney. 100% Whitney.

Who was your childhood celebrity crush?

    Whitney: Hugh Jackman.

    Mallory: Casper the ghost.

    Whitney: An actual child.

Mallory: Oh yeah, I mean, I was a child so you're allowed to be attracted to the ghost. And I would also say...animated Simba. At the end of "Hakuna Matata" when he shakes his mane.

Your dream road trip would take you to...

    Mallory: Vermont! I've never been.

Whitney: I was going to say Virginia. But literally anything cross-country would be good.

Mallory: Yeah, we're from Portland, so Vermont is all the way across the country.

What is the best road-trip snack?

Mallory: Chocolate. Preferably, Peanut Butter M&Ms. Whitney brought those, as well. And not a fun size. The Costco size — that's a healthy serving for a growing girl.

Whitney: I have tested this in the car, I actually brought these on a road trip that I took three weeks ago to the hot southern Utah desert, and I left them in the car for like four hours — and they held fast because of the candy coating! So I think they've stood the test of a classic road trip.

And what's your favorite road-trip song?

Mallory: "Do You Realize" by the Flaming Lips — that's a good one.

Whitney:  I was going to say "Chicago" by Sufjan Stevens.

Mallory: Oh yeah, that's a good one!

If you could pick anyone to sit in the back seat while you road trip, who would it be?

    Whitney: Emma Thompson.

Mallory: Elmo, or maybe Kermit. No, change it to somebody hot. I don't even know who I would want in the car! Put Abraham Lincoln.

    Any unpopular road-trip opinions?

Mallory: I need an obscene amount of water, because I want to be peeing all the time on a road trip. If I could have an entire water bed on the back seat that I'm just sippin' on the whole trip, that's what I want.

What are some of your road-trip must haves?

Mallory: My phone, obviously. Not only because I am very directionally challenged, but because I need at least 100 hours of audio content — downloaded — or I don't feel safe. Also, the stretchiest pair of pants that I can possibly find. I cannot have a zipper, or a button, or underwire, or denim of any kind touch my body during a road trip. And sunglasses, and also a backup pair of sunglasses, because the first pair will be stolen, or destroyed, or I will sit on them, which I do almost every time I leave the house.

Whitney: Full body deodorant — because sitting for long periods of time is actually quite a sweaty activity. If I didn't have this, I would have to go back for it. And my Laneige Sleep Mask — let me tell you, as a girl with full lips, I need the right care. And when you are in a car and you are either blasting the A/C or the heater, the air is not going to be kind.

Describe your style in three words.

    Mallory: Androgynous, quirky, and colorful.

Whitney: Buttonless, elastic, and "your-eighth-grade-teacher-who-sews her own clothes."

Aside from making a movie, did you learn any new skills during the pandemic?

Whitney: I am now a slightly better-than-amateur potter, because I bought a pottery wheel after watching too much Great Pottery Show Down. I did it for three months and then got carpal tunnel and had to stop.

Mallory: This is so boring, but the pandem was the first time that I started going to sleep at a reasonable hour. I finally, finally figured out how to go to bed before 2 in the morning. Which is, you know, I'm in my 30s and that's too late — I'm already gonna die from all the lack of sleep way earlier than I should.

    Whitney: That's a great skill.

Finally, what's the best piece of advice you've ever received?

Whitney: That regardless of what someone thinks of you, or how they act towards you, you can show up loving yourself and that's enough in that situation. You'll never regret showing up as your best self.

Mallory: I would say that falling in love with the process is the goal — not the end result. And if you fall in love with the process, then the end result doesn't matter so much. You get to enjoy the road and not be so concerned by how it will turn out in the end.
