President Josiah "Jed" Bartlet started his career as an economics professor at Dartmouth University before being elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives and then Governor of New Hampshire. He’s a well educated liberal democrat and is politically very progressive. He’s also extremely popular and his presidency has survived several controversies, including a concealed MS diagnosis and accusations that his Vice President had engaged in extramarital affairs.

Josiah Bartlet (D-NH)

Robert Ritchie is the conservative Governor of Florida. He’s known for having a folksy attitude and an outsider perspective on Washington. He’s a popular candidate in America’s heartland and is seen as the candidate you’d “just want to grab a beer with.” Ritchie is most well known for stating, “Crime, boy. I don't know,” in the wake of killing of a Secret Service agent named Simon Donovan.

Robert Ritchie (R-FL)

Matt Santos came out of nowhere, but has proven to be a very popular candidate. Politically, Santos is very liberal and the focus of his political career has been to put an end to poverty in America. Before he joined the House of Representatives, he was a Second Lieutenant in the Marines and continues to serve in the reserves, even after being elected mayor of Houston, Texas. He’s especially popular with young democrats, but has fans on the other side of the aisle as well.

Matthew Santos (D-TX)

Arnie Vinick is an Ivy League-educated republican who has served as the Senator of California since he was elected in 1982 with 6.9 million votes, the most votes for any Senate candidate until that point. He’s a strong advocate for working families and has spent his career fighting for healthcare reform. He’s vocal about opposing big-government programs and fights hard against bureaucracy and tax increases.

Arnold Vinick (R-CA)

Glen Allen Walken is a well respected congressmen and House Majority Leader. Despite his conservative values and voting record, his conviction and sincerity makes him popular on both sides of the aisle, but he’s an especially attractive choice amongst conservative and centrist voters. When the President’s daughter was kidnapped, congress voted to invoke the 25th amendment, turning the power of the office over to Walken temporarily and most believe he handled the responsibilities capably.

Glen Allen Walken (R-MO)

John Hoynes is a disarming democrat from Texas who charms both conservative and liberal voters alike. He served as Vice President under Josiah Bartlet for four years before resigning and running as a presidential candidate himself. His political career has been marred by controversies and he’s been criticized for not having any apparent political convictions, but he’s still a very popular candidate.
