Hello, my Vaping Friends! So a disturbing little tidbit of information came into my email today and I'm sharing it with you as a heads up. The information here came from the FDA Blog https://blogs.fda.gov/fdavoice/index.php/2017/12/looking-ahead-some-of-fdas-major-policy-goals-for-2018/ and as always I encourage you to READ for yourself to make an informed decision. At this time, I haven't seen any call to actions, but it's still noteworthy and something to be looking out for. I'm going to quote from the website the part that concerns me and should concern you if you'd like to keep vaping flavors.
"As part of this plan, FDA will also be issuing an Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to look at how to best regulate flavors in tobacco products to limit their appeal to youth, while considering the potential role that some flavors may play in helping users transition away from combustible products. Further, FDA will be issuing an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to solicit information that may inform regulatory actions FDA might take with respect to premium cigars, asking certain questions related to how we might define and regulate “premium cigars,” taking into consideration the health effects of these products and their patterns of use."
Now in a common sense world, eliquid wouldn't be lumped in with tobacco, but we already know it has been in the eyes of the FDA, so you can believe they will come after us with a vengeance if this goes through. Like I said this is not in action yet but hindsight is always helpful and I think we should jump on this now before it goes any further. Vaping is illegal for the "youth" they claim they are trying to protect and therefore my thoughts are instead of tampering with eliquid, how about enforcing the laws already in place? To me that's common sense, I'm not sure what angle they are trying to push through.
The quoted part is from the link above and written by: Scott Gottlieb, M.D., Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Follow Commissioner Gottlieb on Twitter @SGottliebFDA and hey while you're at it, ask him why they aren't enforcing the laws in place instead of working on flavor bans for adults. I'm curious, aren't you?
