      The Krokodil epidemic is specific to that region, there’s absolutely no logical reason or empirical evidence that impure desomorphine is becoming popular in the U.S. Heroin is cheap, desomorphine along with countless other morphine derivatives and analogues (that includes pretty much every even moderately frequently abused opioid) are available by prescription and are sold on the streets. The disgusting effects shown by the images in this article are not caused by desomorphine, they’re caused by adulterants in “krokodil” and bacteria on the needles or in solution.
