Contouring Is Out, Strobing Makeup Is Taking Over The Internet

If you couldn't figure out WTF you were doing with contouring, try this.

People have been contouring their faces for a while now.

A ton of shading and highlighting goes into sculpting a face with makeup.

Not to mention a lot of skill.

And it can make a huge difference.

Literally face-changing.

But it's also a TON of work that doesn't always pay off.

Because there are like 2,380 steps to get right.

So Instagram is officially giving up on contouring in favor of "strobing."

Instead of using a darker color and a lighter color to chisel the face with makeup, all you do is use highlighter.

In the places where the light would naturally hit your face.

Dab it on your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose and your lips.

To go all out, apply it to the center of your forehead, under your eyebrow bone, your chin, the inner corner of your eyes, and the tip of your nose, too.

It really brightens up the face!

And it takes much, much less work.

Which means it's way harder to mess up.

You can use a dewy, sheer highlighter like this one.

It's the RMS Beauty Living Luminizer. Get it here.

Or make things really easy with a highlighter stick.

This Sonia Kashuk one comes in a few different shades and you can get it here for $11.

All you have to do is find your light!
