For 75 years, the Mint Julep, famously associated with all things Derby Day, has been the official drink of the race.
This was the seventh year craft Kentucky bourbon maker Woodford Reserve sold $1,000 mint juleps for charity. There were 75 total and they sold out.
Sold out. $1,000 cocktails. 75 of them for those of you counting at home.
Yes, it’s charity. Yes, it’s honorable. But spending $1,000 on muddled mint, sugar, and bourbon equates to about $125 a sip and forever cements a person’s place in the Yuppy Hall of Fame.
