    Quick synopsis of Divergent:

In the world of Divergent, society is split into five factions based on personality traits (Abnegation, Dauntless, Candor, Erudite, and Amity). The story follows a girl named Tris Prior, and she is defined as Divergent—never being able fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late.

    About the Dauntless faction:

The Dauntless faction is known for being the fearless and brave risk-takers whose main priority is to protect the gates surrounding dystopian Chicago. They cover their bodies in tattoos and believe that conquering your fears is essential to their way of life.

Author Veronica Roth says: "Most Dauntless get tattoos as a reminder of the past, a mark of progress. There's also the relationship to pain (a true Dauntless doesn't mind the pain!), but mostly tattoos are a sign of overcoming obstacles, for them, a way of marking struggle and progress on the body."

    About Eric:

Eric is a brutal force with a damaged moral compass. His cruel training methods and ruthless leadership make him a quick adversary to Tris, the Abnegation transfer and protagonist of the story.
