But despite all of the suck, 2016 has also produced some of the best music in a long time. At KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas, we asked some of your favorite musicians what album helped them get through this year.

blink-182's pick: We Got It from Here... Thank You 4 Your Service by A Tribe Called Quest

AFI's pick: Skeleton Tree by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

"I heard 'Same Drugs' while I was at a restaurant and felt myself get teary eyed and get shivers on my entire body. It's been awhile since I had that gut reaction to music. Then I just went on a rampage of listening to that entire album. There was so much passion and attention to detail and moments that are so hard to capture in music now. But he captured the essence of our generation.

Bastille's picks: Malibu by Anderson .Paak and Blonde by Frank Ocean

"Anderson .Paak's Malibu is one of the most beautiful, relaxed, sad, uplifting albums. He's an insane drummer, singer, and rapper. It just grabs you from 'The Bird' and through the whole album. I also think I've listened to Blonde more than any other album since it came out. I think there's so much to unpack in it. Underneath its simplicity, it's layered and complex. It's probably about what was left out as much as what was left in. It's really something when an artist can be so personal but speak to so many people."

The Head and The Heart's picks: Blackstar by David Bowie, You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen, Why Are You OK by Band Of Horses

"At least we had new music from [Bowie and Cohen] before they passed away. That was definitely a highlight of 2016. Band Of Horses came out with a new record this year and they definitely got back on the horse, no pun intended. It's just phenomenal front to back."
