20 Moments From "Peacemaker" That Made Me Dance Like Vigilante

    "Give peace a f@#$ing chance."

Peacemaker is hands down the craziest show that DC has ever produced, and people are loving it.

Following the events of The Suicide Squad, we see Christopher Smith return to his hometown to fight alien butterflies, green ninjas, and Neo-Nazis, all while listening to some killer Glam Metal tracks. Now that Season 1 has ended, let's take a look at the 20 Best Moments from Peacemaker.

In a flashy and elaborate dance number that perfectly sets up the tone of the show. All the characters engage in bizarre body movements and do it all with a straight face, despite how ridiculous it is. This only makes this sequence funnier to watch, especially when you realize that most of these characters would never do something like this in the actual show.

    19. The Diner Scene

When Chris goes out to a restaurant to meet with his team, he shows up dressed in his Peacemaker costume. From there, he misuses the phrase "sweet cheeks," has a lengthy debate with the team about "sugar t@%s," and makes fun of Economos's beard. We also get a hilarious introduction to Adrian Chase/Vigilante, whose butt dance will undoubtedly be famous now.

    18. When Chris Talks With Jamil

After Peacemaker is released from the hospital, he speaks with the janitor, Jamil (who you may recognize from Schitt's Creek). They argue about how famous his superhero persona really is, and when Jamil remembers who he is, he makes a point about how Peacemaker primarily targeted minorities. You probably didn't think a conversation like this would've gotten so political, but with James Gunn, you never know.

    17. That Rant About Batman

When Peacemaker leaves his father's house, he encounters his annoying neighbor, who asks why he doesn't have his own rogues gallery like Batman. Peacemaker loses it and says about Batman what many people have been saying about the Caped Crusader for years. While Peacemaker's ideas are extreme and morally questionable, he raises an interesting point about how Batman repeatedly lets his enemies live so they can kill again.

    16. The Justice League Arrives

After Peacemaker and his team defeat the Butterflies, they walk away from the battlefield, bloodied and bruised, only to get a surprise visit from the Justice League, who are late as usual. With Peacemaker spending the whole series ripping into the League, it was quite a treat what would happen if he actually met them. And it was hilarious to see Flash and Aquaman address that rumor.

    15. The Hostage Argument

When the police corner Peacemaker after he kills a Butterfly, he enters a dysfunctional couple's apartment and ties them up as he tries to escape. Amazingly, the wife begins to flirt with Peacemaker in a sudden case of Stockholm Syndrome, and the husband is understandably angry. You wouldn't think a hostage situation would devolve into a couple's quarrel and that the wife would start hitting on her captor, but here we are.

    14. The Butterfly Interrogation

When they realize the Butterfly Goff can communicate with them, Peacemaker and Vigilante interrogate him to find out what he knows. Unfortunately, Vigilante keeps asking stupid questions and making silly comments to the point that Peacemaker just screams in his face. While this scene is a nonstop laugh factory, Vigilante still makes an interesting point about how Chris makes friends with creatures who can't talk back. At this point, it is Chris who is being interrogated.

    13. The Butterfly Invasion

After Sophie is taken over by Goff, she calls in a swarm of Butterflies and unleashes them all on the Evergreen Police Station in a bloody but beautifully shot scene. It shows just how frightening these tiny bugs really are as they burrow into everyone's bodies and take them over, but it still manages to make them funny as they still can't seem to smile normally.

    12. The Truth Is Out There

Following their final battle with the Butterflies, Adebayo finally makes things right with Chris after framing him for murder. She goes before the press and reveals the truth about Project Butterfly and Task Force X. Not only do we see the two of them rekindle their friendship, but we get to see Adebayo throw Amanda Waller under the bus, which was long overdue.

    11. Goff's Plea

When Peacemaker confronts Goff in her base, the alien Butterfly appeals to the vigilante's ideals to get him to help them escape. We learn that the Butterflies wanted to find a new home after their old planet became uninhabitable. Yet, at the same time, Goff justifies her kind stripping humanity of their free will because of their inability to make the right choices and prevent their own destruction. It's a thought-provoking moment that calls into the world's Americanized ideas about freedom and peace, but in the end, Peacemaker still defeated the Butterflies to save his friends.

    10. Chris's Sad Time

When Chris is alone in his trailer, he puts on some music and surprises everyone when he breaks down crying on his bed. He acknowledges how much of a jerk he is to everyone, and he even shows remorse for murdering Rick Flag. It's refreshing to see such a macho-headed character like Peacemaker in such a vulnerable moment, making you sympathize with him even after all the terrible things he did. And somehow, this scene leads to a hilarious and lengthy discussion about Louis C.K.

    9. The School Presentation

As a favor to Jamil, Peacemaker visits his daughter's classroom, pretending to be her relative, to impress her classmates. However, he struggles to answer the kids' questions and gives them hilariously inappropriate nicknames. Peacemaker isn't the kind of person you want to make a presentation to your kids, but it's funny to watch him try to act cool in front of them.

    8. When Eagly Hugs Chris

After Chris's brutal battle with his father, he prays for his pet Eagly to be brought back to life. Though he trails off by talking about how he should've left his pet with a girl he wouldn't date. Nevertheless, Eagly wakes up and gives Chris a hug for Adebayo to see. It's not often that a scene can make you cry and laugh at the same time, but James Gunn found a way.

    7. The Date Fight

The show's first episode ends on an insanely high note when Chris is attacked by his date, Annie. She cuts and throws Chris across the room with her alien strength, and with the Quireboys song "I Don't Love You Anymore" playing in the background, this scene feels like something out of a horror movie. The scene reaches an explosive climax when Chris blows her to pieces with his sonic boom helmet, which leaves you reeling as you try to process what the hell just happened.

    6. The Barn Fight

In their last stand against the Butterflies, Peacemaker and his team raid the aliens' ranch in a spectacularly brutal fight scene. The heroes beat down these body snatchers with some creative kills, and the way Peacemaker wipes out his foes with his shield would make Captain America jealous.

    5. Adebayo's Photo Bomb

When Murn briefs the team about their targets, Adebayo accidentally shows them a private photo that her wife sent her. Everyone loses it, and Peacemaker's reaction is especially hilarious. This scene and the banter that are thrown around really make this black ops team look like a group of friends on a road trip, having a good time. It also taught us an important lesson about WhatsApp and the myth about "butt babies."

    4. The Beard Dye Confession

A running gag throughout the show is how Peacemaker makes fun of Economos's allegedly dyed beard (which actor Steve Agee actually did for his role in the show). However, when Economos infiltrates the Butterfly ranch, he confesses that he does dye his beard in a surprisingly sad moment. This scene really makes you feel sorry for Economos, and the fact that Peacemaker regretfully listened to his entire monologue makes it more emotional.

    3. Home Sweet Home

In an unexpectedly poignant moment, Chris walks up to a piano and starts playing a beautiful rendition of Motley Crue's "Home Sweet Home." This scene is made more touching when we learn that Chris's brother introduced this song to him the day that he died. And this wasn't some other musician at the piano. John Cena was actually playing it the entire scene. Seriously, somebody give this man an Emmy!

    2. Peacemaker Vs. White Dragon

    Warner Bros. / Via YouTube

When Peacemaker's father shows up in his White Dragon armor to kill his son, the latter faces him in a showdown that would make Luke and Vader's battle look tame. After seeing how much his father has twisted and abused Chris, it's so satisfying to see him finally rid himself of that monster, even if his memory still haunts him. It also shows us how good of an actor John Cena really is, as he's able to shift from angry to sad like a pro.

    1. The Gorilla Attack

    Warner Bros. / Via YouTube

Yes, one of the Butterflies brainwashed a f@#$ing gorilla. And it speaks English. Just when you thought the show couldn't be any crazier, James Gunn pulls this monkey out of the barrel and gives us an insane showdown between it and Peacemaker. But it's only stopped when Economos cuts it open from behind with a bloody chainsaw. And the way the team celebrates this crazy kill brings them closer together as friends.
