The Definitive Ranking Of All 100 Pokémon Towns And Cities

Pallet Town is so basic.

Posted on

100. Ever Grande City

Nintendo / Via cdn.bulbagarden.net

Region: Hoenn

First Appearance: Ruby and Sapphire

Motto: "The paradise of flowers, the sea, and Pokémon."

This isn't even a city; it's a Pokémon Center and the Pokémon league, with only a dangerous cave between them. Ugh, this place sucks.

99. Oldale Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Hoenn

First Appearance: Ruby and Sapphire

Motto: "Where things start off scarce."

The town's official motto says it all. There is literally nothing of interest in this town. I feel sorry for any poor soul who lives here.

98. Five Island

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sevii Islands

First Appearance: FireRed and LeafGreen

Motto: "Chrono Island: Where Time Goes"

The remakes of Red and Blue added a whole new island chain. Unfortunately, almost all the towns are really boring and have unimaginative names. This place is where fun goes to die.

97. Six Island

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sevii Islands

First Appearance: FireRed and LeafGreen

Motto: "Fortune Island of Aged Wisdom."

Seven people live here and they must all be bored out of their minds because there is, once again, nothing to do here. If you like picking the lint of your belly button, this is the best place to do it.

96. Littleroot Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Hoenn

First Appearance: Ruby and Sapphire

Motto: "A town that can't be shaded any hue."

Littleroot Town is the equivalent of the small town in North Dakota you left behind the minute you went to college. Your mom always asks you to come home, but you refuse to.

95. Safari Zone Gate

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Johto

First Appearance: HeartGold and SoulSilver

Motto: N/A

This is not a town but merely a farmers' market outside of a game preserve. Somehow, the games still consider it an official town. Where are people supposed to sleep?

92. Two Island

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sevii Islands

First Appearance: FireRed and LeafGreen

Motto: "Boon Island for Two."

This island has four things to do instead of three, and that's sadly a huge improvement from previous islands.

91. Twinleaf Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sinnoh

First Appearance: Diamond and Pearl

Motto: "Fresh and Free!"

Another boring starter town but at least it doesn't pretend to be something it's not. Who decided that this would be a good place for a town — it's a dead end in the middle of the forest?

90. New Bark Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Johto

First Appearance: Gold and Silver

Motto: "The Town Where Winds of a New Beginning Blow."

It's a starter town but, hey, this one has a lab. That's kinda cool. Kinda.

89. One Island

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sevii Islands

First Appearance: FireRed and LeafGreen

Motto: "Friends Gather at Knot Island."

This is the first island you visit and the first sign you're going to be disappointed.

88. Verdanturf Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Hoenn

First Appearance: Ruby and Sapphire

Motto: "The windswept highlands with the sweet fragrance of grass."

It's just a boring town with a semi-interesting love story that just makes you do extra work. You didn't come here to help teens make relationships work, you came here to become a Pokémon master.

87. Frontier Access

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Johto

First Appearance: HeartGold and SoulSilver

Motto: N/A

This town only exists so people can hang out when they're not in the battle frontier. It's the Pokémon equivalent of a highway rest stop, sans the Roy Rodgers.

86. Black City

Nintendo / Via officialnintendomagazine.co.uk

Region: Unova

First Appearance: Black version exclusive

Motto: "Prosperous and Vibrant."

This city seems scary and dystopian. It's trying too hard to be something out of The Matrix.

84. Sandgem Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sinnoh

First Appearance: Diamond and Pearl

Motto: "Town of Sand!"

While the motto is not the most creative, there's at least a lab here and a weird beach that seems to be very far away from the water.

83. Cherrygrove City

Nintendo / Via thefullwiki.org

Region: Johto

First Appearance: Gold and Silver

Motto: "The City of Cute, Fragrant Flowers."

This town is such a yawn that all it does is teach new trainers things they should've already know from previous generations.

82. Aquacorde Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Kalos

First Appearance: X and Y

Motto: "Water and civilization in harmony."

The fact that this town is very pretty hides that there's really nothing much to be done here. There's a nice café, which counts for something. Not much, but something.

81. Vaniville Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Kalos

First Appearance: X and Y

Motto: "A town whose flower is about to bloom."

It's a fancy starter town whose cobblestone streets are gorgeous but it offers little else to do. What's the big gate trying to keep out — fun?

80. Cianwood City

Nintendo / Via writer.dek-d.com

Region: Johto

First Appearance: Gold and Silver

Motto: "A Port Surrounded by Rough Seas!"

It's the beach town you're forced to go to on family vacation. It's nice in theory to be by the water, but then you realize everything else kinda blows.

79. Three Island

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sevii Islands

First Appearance: FireRed and LeafGreen

Motto: "Kin Island of Family Bonding"

Finally, an island town that's more than just a building or two! Still not very interesting, though.

78. Fight Area

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sinnoh

First Appearance: Diamond and Pearl

Motto: "Battles Galore."

Between the name and the motto, it's pretty clear what Fight Area's M.O. is. (It's fighting. Fighting is the M.O.)

77. Solaceon Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sinnoh

First Appearance: Diamond and Pearl

Motto: "Free of Worry!"

Solaceon Town is Pokémon breeding central in Sinnoh. Unfortunately, you'll get sick of it real quick if you're trying to get a bunch of eggs to hatch.

76. Camphrier Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Kalos

First Appearance: X and Y

Motto: "A town where you can taste the ages."

The coolest thing about this town it's that it's next to a big castle. The town is, however, not that castle. And, serious question: What does "taste the ages mean?"

75. Accumula Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Unova

First Appearance: Black and White

Motto: "The Fast-Growing Town!"

This is a slightly more interesting spin on the usual, boring first town trainers encounter after they leave their hometown. The people who live here probably have massive quads because of all the stairs they need to walk up and down.

74. Dendemille Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Kalos

First Appearance: X and Y

Motto: "A town where fluff dances on the wind."

Windmills are kewl, but that's just about all there is in this pretty but sleepy town.

73. Lentimas Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Unova

First Appearance: Black 2 and White 2

Motto: "Where Rough Mountain Trails Lead."

What makes this place great is that you get to arrive in style via plane instead of clutching the back of your poor Pidgeotto.

72. Nacrene City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Unova

First Appearance: Black and White

Motto: "A Pearl of a Place."

This is the Williamsburg of the Pokémon world, for better or worse. It's all artsy and vintage, and you can buy overpriced soda pop at the café.

71. Celestic Town

Nintendo / Via cdn.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sinnoh

First Appearance: Diamond and Pearl

Motto: "The Past Lives."

This quaint town has a lot of importance to the vaguely defined Pokémon religion, which is cool, but I'm not seeing a shrine to the almightily helix fossil.

69. Opelucid City (Black version)

Region: Unova

First Appearance: Black version exclusive

Motto: "Time's Dividing Line."

Opelucid City was different depending on the version you were playing. The one in Black was futuristic, and looks like it was the inspiration for the Google campus in Silicon Valley.

68. Opelucid City (White version)

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Unova

First Appearance: White version exclusive

Motto: "Time's Dividing Line."

The White version, meanwhile, was all ancient and old-timey. Neither version is particularly interesting, but they are home to some cool dragon-type trainers.

67. Anville Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Unova

First Appearance: Black and White

Motto: "Rolling Out the Steel Rails."

You can only get to this small town by train, and you have to battle tough trainers the entire train ride there. It's pretty much Snowpiercer, but in Pokémon.

66. Fallarbor Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Hoenn

First Appearance: Ruby and Sapphire

Motto: "A farm community with small gardens."

This place is a Mount Vesuvius waiting to happen. It's next to a volcano and it regularly rains ash. There's a cool glassblower nearby, which is nice.

65. Petalburg City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Hoenn

First Appearance: Ruby and Sapphire

Motto: "Where people mingle with nature."

This city is notable because it's where you finally confront your hard-ass gym leader father. You also meet Wally's family and they're kind of a bummer. He turns out OK in the end.

64. Striation City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Unova

First Appearance: Black and White

Motto: "Three Stand Together as One!"

This city's motto comes from its three gym leaders. It's a pretty novel concept, as you fight the one who has a type advantage over your starter, but the city itself is kinda plain and simple. Not bad, but not great either.

63. Floccesy Town

NintendoRegion: First Appearance: Motto: / Via serebii.net

Region: Unova

First Appearance: Black 2 and White 2

Motto: "Prophecy Flocks Here."

This is the hometown of a former Pokémon League champion, so that's neat. It's got a cool vibe but not cool enough to break the top 50.

62. Driftveil City

Nintendo / Via pokemon.wikia.com

Region: Unova

First Appearance: Black and White

Motto: "A City of Billowing Sails."

It's a nice enough little port city, but its real claim to fame comes in Black 2 and White 2, when the Pokémon World Tournament is held just south of it.

61. Virbank City

Nintendo / Via serebii.net

Region: Unova

First Appearance: Black 2 and White 2

Motto: "City of falling fog and rising stars!"

This city is home to a flourishing punk-rock scene. The gym leader is punk and the gym itself is a dope music club. Wicked.

60. Santalune City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Kalos

First Appearance: X and Y

Motto: "A traditional city."

This is, as the motto claims, "a traditional city." Its got your first gym leader, a trainer school, and not much else. It's boring but necessary. At least it looks nice.

59. Eterna City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sinnoh

First Appearance: Diamond and Pearl

Motto: "History Living."

The cool historical vibe of this city is kind of ruined by some new condos and an ugly Team Galactic building. Team Galactic is super gauche.

58. Kiloude City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Kalos

First Appearance: X and Y

Motto: "A kind, sweet, and exquisite city."

You only get to go to this city after you've beaten the Elite Four and become champion. That's probably why everything is so shiny. It does, however, rain a lot, which kind of puts a damper on things.

57. Icirrus City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Unova

First Appearance: Black and White

Motto: "Sky Glittering with Flowers of Snow."

This city looks totally different depending on the season. When it's snowing, you can reach items on faraway cliffs. It's a magical snowy adventure...half the time.

56. Village Bridge

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Unova

First Appearance: Black and White

Motto: N/A

Is it a bridge? Is it a village? Well, whaddaya know — it's both! This 200-year-old town was built around a bridge, yet it's not technically recognized as a town by the good people of Unova. This is clearly an oversight that we've decided to rectify here.

55. Laverre City

Nintendo / Via pokemonxyjourney.weebly.com

Region: Kalos

First Appearance: X and Y

Motto: "The city of otherworldly dreams."

Laverre City has killer foliage. This is the city you should go to if you want to watch the leaves change color. It's the New England of the Pokémon world.

54. Aspertia City

Nintendo / Via poke-amph.com

Region: Unova

First Appearance: Black 2 and White 2

Motto: "A city that reaches for the sky."

This is the first and only starter town that's not dinky and little. It's a full-fledged city, but its name kinda sounds like a bubbly person who doesn't understand your sarcasm.

53. White Forest

Nintendo / Via youtube.com

Region: Unova

First Appearance: White version exclusive

Motto: "People and Nature in Harmony."

Just like Black City only appears in Pokémon Black, White Forest appears only in the White Version. It's so much more peaceful, though. It's a nicer place to spend some time in and get all Ralph Waldo Emerson-y.

52. Dewford Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Hoenn

First Appearance: Ruby and Sapphire

Motto: "A tiny island in the blue sea."

When you first get here, you arrive in a boat captained by an old man and his Wingull. Even though they're both pretty cool, the town itself is a little meh and really what you want to do is get to Slateport.

51. Mahogany Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Johto

First Appearance: Gold and Silver

Motto: "Welcome to the Home of the Ninja!"

This town is full of ninjas and it gets cool points for being near the Lake of Rage, where you catch a freakin' red Gyarados.

50. Veilstone City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sinnoh

First Appearance: Diamond and Pearl

Motto: "Hewn from Rock."

Team Galactic's headquarters is taking up what would otherwise be prime real estate and is kind of an eyesore. But, this town also has a department store, a game corner, and a massage girl — what could you want more in a city?

49. Pastoria City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sinnoh

First Appearance: Diamond and Pearl

Motto: "The Marsh City."

It's in the middle of a giant marsh, which is pretty cool but also makes it a pain to get to. The Safari Zone is worth the trek, as are the rare Pokémon you find here.

48. Anistar City

Nintendo / Via mii-gamer.com

Region: Kalos

First Appearance: X and Y

Motto: "The starry city marking the hours."

The city is nice with some cool attractions but the real draw is the magnificent crystal sundial. The Memory Girl in the city also helps you get attuned to your Pokémon's feelings, which is pretty cool. Loses points if you mispronounce it as Anus-star.

47. Blackthorn City

Nintendo / Via strategywiki.org

Region: Johto

First Appearance: Gold and Silver

Motto: "A Quiet Mountain Retreat."'

This is where dragons live, which makes this a pretty badass place to reside and visit. It's just a cool city, and any place that gave rise to Lance and Clair is baller.

46. Couriway Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Kalos

First Appearance: X and Y

Motto: "A town connecting differences."

There is more or less nothing to do here except to visit the waterfalls. Even though that's not much, the waterfalls are really pretty and awesome to see.

45. Geosenge Town

Nintendo / Via ign.com

Region: Kalos

First Appearance: X and Y

Motto: "Quiet stones speak volumes"

It's got a cool ancient-ruins vibe that's kinda ruined by the ultimate weapon to destroy the world. Still pretty cool.

44. Four Island

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sevii Islands

First Appearance: FireRed and LeafGreen

Motto: "The Warm, Blue, Floe Island."

This island is the only worthwhile town in all of the Sevii Islands. There's a breeding center, a cool ice cave, and it's the hometown of Elite Four member Lorelei, and she has a huge collection of Pokédolls.

43. Resort Area

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sinnoh

First Appearance: Diamond and Pearl

Motto: "Relax & Play!"

This is a really chill place where you can hang out in style but you can also catch a Magikarp that might be at level 100. And who doesn't want a Magikarp at that level?!

42. Violet City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Johto

First Appearance: Gold and Silver

Motto: "The City of Nostalgic Scents."

Bellsprout own this town, and any place ruled by them means it's awesome. Granted, the pagoda in Ecruteak City that has Ho-Oh is much cooler, but Bellsprout are nice enough.

41. Canalave City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sinnoh

First Appearance: Diamond and Pearl

Motto: "Cargo Port."

A library, a canal, a ferry, and a drawbridge make this city much more interesting than its motto.

40. Humilau City

Nintendo / Via youtube.com

Region: Unova

First Appearance: Black 2 and White 2

Motto: "Calm and Sparkling Seas."

While not as awesome as Pacifidlog Town, it's still pretty cool to see the city really in harmony with the water.

39. Viridian City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Kanto

First Appearance: Red and Blue

Motto: "The City of Evergreen."

Viridian City is the first major city you visit but also where you come back later to get your last badge and finally stamp out Team Rocket. It's a great full-circle-feeling city.

38. Floaroma Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sinnoh

First Appearance: Diamond and Pearl

Motto: "Vivid & Scented."

This would be a terrible town to have allergies in but it's just so pretty to look at.

37. Coumarine City

Nintendo / Via serebii.net

Region: Kalos

First Appearance: X and Y

Motto: "The city where bay and butte are bound."

There's a monorail in Coumarine City. And we all know that the Monorail put Brockway, Ogdenville, and North Haverbrook on the map.

36. Shalour City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Kalos

First Appearance: X and Y

Motto: "A city of awakening."

The city is nice enough but the real draw is the Tower of Mastery, which is the most impressive building in the entire series.

35. Hearthome City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sinnoh

First Appearance: Diamond and Pearl

Motto: "Warm & Kind."

This city has a contest hall, what appears to be a church, and best of all, a park where you can walk around in, but only if you bring a cute Pokémon. Discriminatory? Maybe, but you can't deny that it's adorable.

34. Ambrette Town

Nintendo / Via youtube.com

Region: Kalos

First Appearance: X and Y

Motto: "Where amber dust dances."

This town is only known for two things: a cool aquarium and fossils. Luckily, both of those things are awesome.

33. Snowbelle City

Nintendo / Via ign.com

Region: Kalos

First Appearance: X and Y

Motto: "The city of everlasting winter."

Its cities like this that make you wish you could build a snowman in Pokémon.

32. Undella Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Unova

First Appearance: Black and White

Motto: "A Town of Rippling Waves."

Undella Town is a sweet beach town, and you can challenge the Sinnoh League Champion Cynthia, who is arguably the coolest champion around.

31. Lumiose City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Kalos

First Appearance: X and Y

Motto: "The City of Light."

This city, which is clearly modeled after Paris, is really big and impressive, and has a lot to do. Unfortunately, it is super confusing to navigate.

30. Cinnabar Island

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Kanto

First Appearance: Red and Blue

Motto: "The Fiery Town of Burning Desire."

Cinnabar Island is where they created Mewtwo, and then, in Generation II, it gets blown up by a volcano. This probably makes Cinnabar Island a terrible place to live, but cool to explore.

29. Mauville City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Hoenn

First Appearance: Ruby and Sapphire

Motto: The bright and shiny city of fun!"

It's got a game corner, Rydel's Cycles, and a jolly old man for a gym leader. It's also close to the day care where you can abandon your Pokémon and hope that they bone.

28. Olivine City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Johto

First Appearance: Gold and Silver

Motto: The Port Closest to Foreign Lands."

Olivine City has a cool lighthouse that is lit by an Ampharos. There's deceptively little to do, but it's still a fun and unique town.

27. Pewter City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Kanto

First Appearance: Red and Blue

Motto: "A Stone Gray City."

Pewter City is where you get your first badge — like, ever. It's also where you learn about fossils and prepare for your trip through Mt. Moon. There's also Clefairy to look forward to, which is awesome.

26. Sunnyshore City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sinnoh

First Appearance: Diamond and Pearl

Motto: "Solar Powered!"

Sunnyshore City has cool solar-powered pathways, which is convenient and green. It also has a rock that looks like a Munchlax, which is Snorlax's adorable baby form.

25. Jubilife City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sinnoh

First Appearance: Diamond and Pearl

Motto: "City of Joy."

It's just a very big and happening city that's very modern with lots to do. The Jubilife TV station is awesome to visit, and the Global Terminal lets you trade with trainers anywhere around the world IRL.

24. Mistralton City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Unova

First Appearance: Black and White

Motto: "Strewn with Windblown Leaves."

Airplanes!!!!!! Literally might be the coolest thing that Nintendo has ever put in the games, but that's all you can really do here.

23. Rustboro City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Hoenn

First Appearance: Ruby and Sapphire

Motto: "The city probing the integration of nature and science."

It's a big city with an old-timey feel and not a bad place to spend your time while getting your first badge. The whole city is a yellow brick road to your Poké dreams.

22. Saffron City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Kanto

First Appearance: Red and Blue

Motto: "Shining, Golden Land of Commerce."

Saffron City is cool because it has two gyms but loses points because it has Silph Co., which is a pain to get through and defeat. But hey, free Lapras!

21. Cerulean City

Nintendo / Via strategywiki.org

Region: Kanto

First Appearance: Red and Blue

Motto: "A Mysterious, Blue Aura Surrounds It."

Cerulean City is Misty's hometown, which is awesome, but it's also just south of Bill (who invented the PC) and also the closest town to Mewtwo, which just makes this a pretty badass city.

20. Cyllage City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Kalos

First Appearance: X and Y

Motto: "The city of peaceful strolls."

There's not too much to do in the city itself, but it is surrounded by a pretty sweet mountain biking course. Pop a wheelie, yo.

19. Snowpoint City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sinnoh

First Appearance: Diamond and Pearl

Motto: "City of Snow."

Snowpoint is the winter wonderland that every Pokémon trainer has been waiting for. On special days, there's special diamond dust snow that almost makes this place perfect.

18. Oreburgh City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Sinnoh

First Appearance: Diamond and Pearl

Motto: "City of Energy."

It's a cool, exciting mining town. Luckily, you get your first badge here instead of getting black lung disease.

16. Ecruteak City

Nintendo / Via strategywiki.org

Region: Johto

First Appearance: Gold and Silver

Motto: "A Historical City Where the Past Meets the Present."

Ecruteak is a very old-fashioned Pokémon city that brings together Ho-Oh and history — one of the best pairings in the game. Plus, you get to see where Entei, Raikou, and Suicune started.

15. Lavaridge Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Hoenn

First Appearance: Ruby and Sapphire

Motto: "An excellent place for relaxing!"

It may not seem like there's much to do in Lavaridge, but there's a dope hot spring that you can chill out in. Bonus points if you saved the game while relaxing in the water.

14. Mossdeep City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Hoenn

First Appearance: Ruby and Sapphire

Motto: "Our slogan: Cherish POKÉMON!"

This place is nice, scenic, and relaxing, but they're also trying to launch a rocket, so really this place has it all.

13. Pacifidlog Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Hoenn

First Appearance: Ruby and Sapphire

Motto: "Where the morning sun smiles upon the waters."

Nothing important to the plot happens here, but it is one of the most visually interesting towns in the whole series. You can almost walk on water, which is pretty incredible.

12. Lavender Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Kanto

First Appearance: Red and Blue

Motto: "The Noble Purple Town."

Lavender Town was spooky and the theme song may or may not have driven kids insane, but it was so cool to explore.

11. Lilycove City

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Hoenn

First Appearance: Ruby and Sapphire

Motto: "Where the land ends and the sea begins."

There's an art museum, a contest hall, a big department store, and a lighthouse on a point where you can contemplate your future.

10. Pallet Town

Nintendo / Via bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Region: Kanto

First Appearance: Red and Blue

Motto: "Shades of your journey await!"

Most other starter towns were ranked poorly because there's nothing to do in them. Pallet Town is no different in that respect, but it is the place where everyone's journey to be a Pokémon master started. ~Memories~
