By "survive," we mean stay awake. You probably won't get murdered.

Can You Survive Pulling An All-Nighter At The Library?

9 p.m.: You get to the library and see the coffee shop. What do you buy?

9:30 p.m.: You're looking around for a study spot and see several options. What do you pick?

10 p.m.: You've got notes to reread, readings to do, practice quizzes to finish, and flash cards to review. What's first?

11 p.m.: You see a friend studying across the library. What do you do?

Midnight: You need a break. What do you do?

2 a.m.: The groupchat is blowing up with some crazy tea. What do you do?

3 a.m.: You start thinking you're done and can maybe go home. What do you do?

5 a.m.: You're extremely tired. You also know you can't sleep. What do you do?

It's 7 a.m. The birds are chirping. Your midterm is in one hour. What do you do?

Maybe you passed out, maybe you said "screw it" and went home; whatever the case, this was not a triumphant night in the library. Whatever happened, in the future, here's some tips to avoid crashing and burning: avoid sugar-heavy drinks & eating too much (sugar crash & food coma, respectively). Don't make your study spot too secluded, comfy, or dark, as you're more likely to sleep. Just because you studied your notes, doesn't mean your done — repeat practice quizzes, go over lecture notes, and keep learning!

You didn't survive

You did it! You hit the right balance of caffeine, stress, and studying to make it through the night! Future library all-nighter tips: avoid sugar-heavy drinks and too much food. It can lead to a sugar crash or a food coma, respectively. You probably already know all about also finding the balance between a comfortable, but not cozy study spot; this can mean sitting within eyesight of another person, studying near the overhead lights, and not using your sweatshirt to lie down and "rest your eyes."
