21 People Who Had A Weird Feeling Something Bad Was About To Happen...And Then It Did

A dream come true, but make it ✨terrifying✨.

We asked the BuzzFeed Community to tell us about the times they had creepy premonitions that actually came true, and they certainly did not disappoint. Here are some of their wildest tales:

1. This concerned coworker:

Years ago, I was leaving work and stopped to say goodbye to my supervisor. She just stood there looking at me with a weird expression on her face for a moment before wishing me a good weekend. The next day, I got into a hit-and-run accident on my bike, but I wasn't too badly injured. When I went to give my paperwork to her, she said she knew that something bad was going to happen to me. She had tried to tell me to be careful that day but psychically could not. On top of that, my grandmother — who was on a vacation at the time — said she knew she shouldn't have gone because she had a feeling someone was going to be in an accident, too.

2. This literal dream home:

"A few weeks before we were set to move in to our new house, I had a dream that we were going to move into a different house that was bigger and better. I didn’t believe it, though, because my dad was almost done buying the one we had seen. About a week later, the deal fell through and we started looking at houses again. Imagine my surprise when one of the houses we were shown was the exact one in my dream. I hadn’t even been to that neighborhood before, so it wasn’t like I dreamt of something I had never seen before. My dad, of course, ended up buying it."

3. This fever dream come true:

"When I was 13, I had a dream that I was in a random trailer park when a tornado hit. Everything went berserk, and I woke up really sick. It was around four in the morning and I ended up going to the hospital. That night, I turned on the news in the hospital room and learned there was a super-bad tornado at a trailer park in Illinois. Since then, I’ve had other weird premonitions — several hinting at a pandemic — but only when I’m sick."

4. This pregnancy predictor:

"A couple years ago I had lunch with my sister and our friend — let’s call him Dan. I left to go to the bathroom, came back, and said, 'Dan, so what was this you were saying about your wife being pregnant? I thought you guys didn’t want any more kids.' They looked at me like I was batshit crazy. Apparently we were not having this discussion but I SWEAR TO GOD we were before I left the table. A couple weeks later, my boyfriend at the time got a call from Dan saying his wife was pregnant."

5. This father's intuition:

"My family planned to go to a hotel for the weekend, when my dad said we shouldn't because something bad was going to happen. He had a dream that I died but my ghost was still hanging around there. My mother decided we were going anyway, because it was just a bad dream. That weekend, I got stuck underwater and pretty much drowned. I wasn’t breathing and my heart stopped. I woke up on the way to the hospital."

6. This car catastrophe:

"After dinner one evening, my sister went to move our big Ford Expedition in the driveway so we could play a game of basketball. I got a terrible feeling and begged my parents to not let her drive. They let her anyway, so I went and hid someplace safe. A few minutes later, I heard my dad yelling as the car rolled down a big hill in our backyard and flipped over in the creek. Luckily my sister wasn't in the car, but she accidentally left it in neutral. We spent the night with a tow truck driver trying to recover the totaled car."

7. This daughter who knew better:

"When I was a baby, my dad traveled to Switzerland often for work. Typically, I never cared when he left, but there was one time when I threw a huge tantrum. My parents thought it was odd but ultimately thought nothing of it. Turns out, that week he was in Switzerland there was a really bad avalanche that trapped him and the whole village in. He was trapped there for three weeks and they had to helicopter supplies and food to the town."

8. This waking nightmare:

"In May 2002, my dad suffered a massive heart attack. The night before it happened, I had a dream that my sister and I were up against the wall in the ER watching the doctors and nurses swarm around my dad’s bed. The following day, it happened just like I had envisioned it. Fortunately, my dad survived it."

9. This person's parking premonition:

"Not too long ago, I was driving home from work and pulled into my parking structure. I lived on the third floor there for over 2 years and never had this happen before, but for some reason I parked on the wrong floor and didn’t notice. I saw my Freshly delivery when I got to my door, but my key didn't work. Turns out, they had delivered my order to the wrong floor and somehow I just knew. It was the strangest feeling!"

10. These travelers that were just in time:

"My husband and I were planning a last-minute trip to Seattle earlier this year. I wanted to go in the beginning of February and he wanted to go in March. I told him that I didn't know why, but I felt in my gut that we needed to go the week I picked in February. Thank goodness we did. Because shortly after our trip, the city started to see coronavirus cases and began lockdown."

11. This scary sign:

"In March 2014, I was 20 weeks pregnant, but I had an awful feeling that something was wrong with my baby. I confided in my mum who told me I have ‘issues’ and needed to ‘get a grip.’ Later that month, I was told my baby had died in the womb and I’d have to give birth to him. I knew something wasn’t right even though I had no signs physically. Another weird part to this story is that my mum had a copy of our 12-week scan on her mantle and about a week before this happened, the light shining in through the window had burned a hole into it. No other picture ever in that place in the 20+ years she has lived there has ever had that happen."

12. This late-night visitor:

"My mom was due to have surgery, so I came to visit for the weekend to help her out. I woke up in the middle of the night and saw a definite, solid outline of my grandma standing in the hallway, as if she were on her tippy toes trying to peer into my bedroom. She was there for a good two minutes before I told her to go to bed, even though she lived in an assisted living facility five minutes away. Later that day, one of the nurses called my mom to tell her that my grandma wasn't doing so well and likely didn't have long left. The day after, my mom got another call saying that my grandma passed away."

13. This roll that went wrong:

"I worked at a gymnastics camp in high school and one year my sister came long. On the third night of camp, I couldn't sleep and kept picturing her doing a dive forward roll and snapping her neck. I could not get this image out of my head. The next day, I was working on the balance beams when I heard a scream. I looked over and saw someone lying down, wearing the same color pants I knew my sister. I ran over to see that she had severely broken her arm, snapping the bones clean in two, while doing a dive forward roll. I was so freaked out. And even now 16 years later, if I dwell on the image too long in my head, I start freaking out."

14. This missing muffler moment:

"When I was 8, my family and I went on a 14-hour road trip. When we stopped for gas, my dad checked under the hood. At that age, the only part of the car that I knew the name of was the muffler, so I asked him if he checked it. His response was 'Why would I check the muffler?' I didn’t know the answer to that either, so we continued on our road trip. Two hours later, we heard a loud bang and then a grinding sound. My dad pulled over and looked under the car, only to discover that the muffler had fallen off. Needless to say, he’s trusted my instincts since then. When he doesn’t, all I have to say is 'check the muffler.'"

15. This student's sinking feeling:

"On Valentine's Day, during my senior year of high school, I woke and felt dread and immense loss. I broke down in tears but I couldn’t explain why. I just knew something terrible was going to happen. Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays, so I had no clue why I felt so uneasy. It was just before lunch at 11:21 a.m. when I told my friends that something bad is happening. I hadn’t checked my phone until the next class period and that’s when I saw that an ex-student opened fire and killed 17 staff members and students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida."

16. This woman with a warning:

"A year before a bad car accident I was in, I had a dream about getting into that the exact accident. The creepiest part is that in my dream, a woman with blonde hair and a white dress came to me and told me to be prepared. When I got into the accident, I lost consciousness and the SAME woman appeared and said, 'I warned you, but it’s not your time. Go be with your people.'"

17. This awful dream come true:

"I had a dream that my friend was hugging me in my bathroom while I cried. Then a stream of people who I recognized but didn’t really know came through my door, bringing food. I walked around in a daze and my house was just a shell. Like no drywall on the walls, just the wood frame. I woke up feeling very unsettled, but shook it off and went to check on my other friend/neighbor. When I opened his door, he was dead on the floor. My entire dream played out the following 24 hours. My friend from my dream found me crying in my bathroom and hugged me. I had just moved to a small town and only knew a few people, but half the town came to my house with food. I spent weeks just walking around my house feeling like a shell of a person."

18. This student with scarily accurate timing:

"In the late '80s, I was watching the space shuttle take off in the break area between classes in college. Right after it started going up, I said out loud, 'Those people are going to die.' It blew up right after that. I ran out of there."

19. This dad in danger:

"I was on summer holiday in Majorca when I was 13 years old. One night while I waited for my brother to turn the light off, an image flashed in my mind. It looked like someone standing on water, then something metal and shiny hurtled toward them. I heard a high-pitched cry as the image vanished. A few days later, my father was out water-skiing and got run over by a speedboat. The propeller nearly severed his arm, and he almost bled to death. Thankfully he's still here today."

20. This kid who knew too much:

"Years ago, my mom was watching the news about a kid who had been kidnapped while walking home from his bus stop. She told me about it and hoped they found him soon. Walking out of the room, I said, 'Oh, they will, but something is going to be weird about it.' I have no clue why I said it. A few days later, the kid had been found, but the police found another kid who had been kidnapped a few years beforehand with him. My mom was like 'HOW DID YOU KNOW?' and I was kinda confused; so she had to remind me of what I had said. I couldn’t even remember talking to my mom about it."

21. And finally, this close call:

I had a dream once that I was watching my mum put laundry on the line to dry, when she was suddenly struck by lightning and died. The next day, it was kinda overcast despite being sunny the day before. I told my mom about the dream that morning, and later on in the day she was putting out the laundry when she heard thunder and lightning. She got freaked out because of what I told her and came inside. So, pretty much, I think I may have saved my mum from being struck by lighting because of a vision I had in a dream.
