You might recognize Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington from the hit show Bridgerton, but I'd like to take just a moment of your time to talk about one of Nicola's other incredible roles: Clare Devlin from Derry Girls.
While we excitedly wait for the next season of the show, let's take a look back at some of Clare's best moments:
.When she was way too relatable with this "texting your best friend to both wear a skirt to school tomorrow" energy:
.When she fasted to raise money for Kamal and was certainly not dramatic about it in any way, shape, or form:
.And when her first instinct when chaos broke loose was to go straight for the sandwich:
.When she stuck true to her goody-two-shoes attitude and gave us this hilarious moment:
.When she reminded us that some things, like dancing to "your song" with your BFFs, trump everything else in importance:
.When she was all of us staying up waaaay too late for an exam we absolutely needed to pass:
.When she reminded us that it's important to be thankful for the little things, like some good old peace and quiet to read in:
.When she gave us peak Anxious Kid™️ representation:
.When she was unabashedly enthusiastic about the things she loved, even if it went unappreciated:
.When she stood her ground and kept her priorities in check:
.When she was the physical embodiment of nervous energy:
.When she wrote an anonymous story for the school paper about being a lesbian, and came out for the first time:
.When she had the perfect response to Erin's assumption that she liked her just because she's gay:
.When she wore these two little pride pins the whole season afterward, which just happen to be almost as adorable as she is:
.When she gave us this iconic moment:
.When she got drunk and went ~wild~ in a Very Clare Way:
.And finally, when she put her fight with Erin on the back burner to stand up for Orla:
In conclusion, thank you, Clare Devlin, for being an absolute icon.
