This is Wilson Bentley, the first known photographer of snowflakes.
He had loved snow since his childhood on a Vermont farm.
He perfected a process of catching snowflakes on black fabric, then photographing them with a microscope and bellows camera.
He took THOUSANDS of detailed pictures of snowflakes in his lifetime!
Each one is unique.
