There's A New Chicken War On Twitter Between Popeyes And Chick-Fil-A

    "Y'all good?"

Take a short trip back in time with me to Aug. 12, last Monday. Popeyes, that fast food restaurant with delicious chicken tenders and biscuits, tweeted that they have a brand-new chicken sandwich.

Chicken. Brioche. Pickles. New. Sandwich. Popeyes. Nationwide. So. Good. Forgot. How. Speak. In. Complete. Sandwiches. I mean, sentences.

It's a piece of fried chicken breast on a bun with pickles and a special sauce. If that sounds familiar, that's probably because it's ~very~ similar to Chick-fil-A's chicken sandwich.

And if you're wondering how it compares, the word is that it's pretty dang good!

This Popeyes chicken sandwich is worth the hype!!!! Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. 🤣

    People are definitely into it.

Also... Popeyes’ spicy chicken sandwich is the best thing I’ve ever had in my entire life.

So. Today, Chick-fil-A tweeted THIS out:

Bun + Chicken + Pickles = all the ❤️ for the original.

"THE ORIGINAL." The chicken gauntlet has been thrown!

Basically all of Chicken Sandwich Twitter was like 👀.

The stress on this tweet is palpabale. What is Popeyes doing in the Impact zone? Chicken Wars are upon us. https://t.co/9QrP8WI9ut

And that's when Popeyes struck back:

    ... y’all good? https://t.co/lPaTFXfnyP

    THE CHICKEN WARS HAVE BEGUN!

Seriously though, people are excited to be able to get a tasty chicken sandwich on a Sunday, when ~certain restaurants~ are closed.

Headed to get that spicy chicken sandwich from Popeyes on Sunday @ChickfilA

And then there's the history of Chick-fil-A's owner opposing LGBTQ rights.

chick fil a watching popeye's unveil a chicken sandwich that is available on sundays hold the homophobia

Those who have been forgoing chicken sandwiches to support a boycott are understandably excited.

Me walking into Popeyes for that new chicken sandwich after holding strong on that Chick-fil-A boycott.

Let's just hope things don't escalate:

Aye fam, if Popeyes comes out with the waffle fries… Idk man it really might be scary hours.
