Apparently "Geriatric Millennials" Are A Thing, And I'm Like, How Dare You

    Have we not suffered enough??

The term "millennial" covers a pretty broad group of people, so there have been some subdivisions of it over the years. For example, "Zennials" describes younger millennials who are on the cusp of Gen Z.

Today, however, an article introduced people to a new term: "geriatric millennials." These are people who are on the older side of the millennial group, born between 1980 and 1985.

"Geriatric millennials" (born between 1980 and 1985) are best positioned to lead teams that will thrive in the hybrid workplace," writes @ericadhawan. https://t.co/e0jSyj6eJY

Of course, people in this age group — myself included, thank you very much — are in their late thirties to early forties, so many of them are taking umbrage to being called "geriatric."

I swear if any of my students call me a “geriatric millennial” I’m going to lose it. https://t.co/8OdzHgaroF

Have we not been called enough names?

These are fighting words! We millennials might not throw hands, but we CAN and WILL flame you online. We survived the days of early AOL chat.

Gen X'ers are out here like, "first time?"

Me, as a Gen-Xer, observing the “geriatric millennial” discourse:

So are moms who gave birth in their mid- to late-thirties.

I had a "geriatric pregnancy" at 34, so this "geriatric Millennial" stuff is old hat to me. #GeriatricMillennial

Others are pointing out that those of us in this weird slot have been called a lot of things, because nobody can seem to place us.

shout out to everyone born between 1980 to 1985, you’ve been Gen X, Gen Y, a millennial, the Oregon trail generation, a xennial, an elder millennia, and now a *checks notes* geriatric millennial

    And then there's this, which...same:

"Geriatric millennial" actually resonates with me very much. Like that's *exactly* how I feel.

When it comes down to it, though, a lot of millennials will probably agree that they can call us whatever they want as long as it makes us more employable.

    I am a geriatric millenial. Elect me. 🤣😂😭 https://t.co/DO6CeZc91r
