When Buzz believes he's Mrs. Nesbitt and hosts a tea party, the teapot he's using is modeled after the [Utah Teapot](https://news.avclub.com/here-s-why-the-same-teapot-has-shown-up-in-toy-story-t-1798254642), one of the first digitally rendered images ever created way back in the 1970s at the University of Utah — _Toy Story_ is the first feature length film made using computer graphics, hence the significance of this reference. The Utah Teapot

In _A Bug's Life_, Manny is a praying mantis who's married to Gypsy, a butterfly. The reason he's not married to another praying mantis is because female mantises have a [reputation](https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/2018/09/praying-mantis-mating-cannibalism-birds-bite-facts-news/) for decapitating and even eating the males with which they mate — meaning if Manny had married another mantis, he wouldn't have survived his wedding night.

When Al, of Al's Toy Barn, ends his phone call with the Japanese toy collector, he says "Don't touch my mustache." What he's trying (and failing) to say is "do itashimashite," which translates to "you're welcome." The Phone Number

In _Finding Nemo_, Bruce the shark is reduced to tears when Marlin starts talking about Nemo, claiming he never even knew his own father. It's sad, but it's also a shark joke — after mating, the male sharks leave and female sharks will [actively avoid males](https://www.livescience.com/28418-great-white-shark-travels-revealed.html) until they give birth. So technically, no shark knows their father.

We're never explicitly told the exact year in which _The Incredibles_ is set. We are told, however, that Elastigirl was last spotted on November 13th, 1955, and that the events of the film take place 15 years after that. We can determine, therefore, that _The Incredibles_ takes place in 1970.

When Mack and Lightning McQueen are driving to California, they pass the "Top Down Truckstop," which advertises "Convertible Waitresses" — the car version of _topless_ waitresses... get it?

The ruthless and finicky food critic Anton Ego states, "I don’t 'like' food, I love it. If I don’t love it, I don’t swallow" — this is especially prescient because he's a little fuller in the face at the end of the movie than he was at the beginning, thus proving he's a man of his word and that the food has improved!

When WALL-E is holding an umbrella to protect EVE from the rain, he gets struck by a bolt of lightning. Before the lightning strikes, WALL-E has a low battery. After it strikes, his battery is fully charged.

The villain in _Up_ is named Charles Muntz. The Real Life Villain

Ever wonder why Bo Peep wasn't in _Toy Story 3_? Well you might want to sit down for this one: Bo Peep _isn't_ one of Andy's toys, and she never was; she was actually part of Molly's lamp. Andy shared a room with Molly in the first _Toy Story_, which is why Bo Peep was always around. In _Toy Story 2_, she didn't live in Andy's room and had to make the trip there from Molly's room. And she isn't in _Toy Story 3_ because Molly clearly wasn't as attached to her old lamp as Andy was to his toys. What Ever Happened to Bo Peep?

In _Cars 2_, the pub they visit has a familiar-looking tapestry hanging on the wall. It depicts the DunBroch family from _Brave_, but reimagined as cars. There's an almost identical-looking tapestry in _Brave_ (albeit with humans, not cars). _Brave_ was released a year after _Cars 2_.

In _Brave_, the witch who spends her days carving wood has at least two creations you'll find familiar. One is a carving of Sulley from _Monsters Inc._ The other is the all-pervasive Pizza Planet truck.

In _Monsters University_, Randall has an inspirational poster above his bed that says, "Winds of Change. Shhh. Do you hear that?" In _Monsters Inc._, the events of which are set after the events of _Monsters University_, Randall quotes this poster when he says, "Do you hear that? It's the winds of change."

In _Inside Out_, Riley is disgusted by broccoli. There's one scene in particular where she's served pizza with broccoli on it, which she obviously hates. But [Pixar was concerned](https://www.businessinsider.com/pixar-made-changed-vegetables-for-japanese-inside-out-2015-7) about how this detail would be received by an international audience, so in the Japanese release, the broccoli was changed to bell peppers because bell peppers are more unpopular among Japanese children.

Lost In Translation

When Arlo falls into the water in _The Good Dinosaur_, you can spot Hank from _Finding Dory_ camouflaging himself in the background. _Finding Dory_ wasn't released until the year after _The Good Dinosaur_.

The Hidden Hank

In _Finding Dory_'s post-credits scene, the Tank Gang has made it to California after floating across the entire Pacific Ocean in plastic bags that are now coated in algae. The only bag that's not coated in Algae is Jacques'. This is because he's a skunk cleaner shrimp, a species of shrimp that have a reputation for, well, [cleaning](https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/2018/07/shrimp-clean-teeth-scuba-diver-video-news/).

In _Cars 3_, you probably missed the infamous Pizza Planet truck competing in the demolition derby.

That Darn Truck

Throughout the majority of _Coco_, before being reunited with his family, the Riveras, Héctor is barefoot. At the end of the movie, after being reunited with his family, he's wearing shoes. This is significant because shoemaking is the Rivera's family business, and Miguel claims that shoes are what brought the family together.

In _The Incredibles 2_, Helen, aka Elastigirl, is spending a lot of time apart from her family. In one of her hotel rooms, there's an abstract painting on the wall that represents this separation.
