On July 16, Pakistani model, actress, and social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch – real name Fouzia Azeem – was drugged and strangled by her brother Waseem Azeem, at their home.

“Yes of course, I strangled her,” Waseem said. "Now everybody will remember me with honour."
“Girls are born only to stay at home and to bring honour to the family by following family traditions but Qandeel had never done that,” Waseem said in a police press conference after his arrest.
He added, “I am a drug addict but I was in my senses when I murdered her and I accept it with pride. Now everybody will remember me with honour that I have provided relief to my parents and brothers who were suffering for the last two decades because of her.”
He admitted that Baloch was a family breadwinner, adding, “Money matters, but family honour is more important”.
He admitted that he'd decided to murder her after her recent music videos with Mufti Abdul Qavi went viral, but “was only waiting for the best moment”.
He confessed that his friends sent him photos and videos of his sister on his phone, and that he found the embarrassment "unbearable".
"Murdering her was better than committing suicide so I went with the former plan," he said.
Waseem slipped Baloch sedatives while their parents slept on an upstairs floor of the family home, and then strangled her while she slept.
