A special edit version of Anurag Kashyap's cult classic will make its way to the online streaming site Netflix in the first week of December.

Both the films, Gangs of Wasseypur and its sequel, will be split up into four parts for each film, making it an eight-episode series. The series will also be broadcast with subtitles in English, Spanish, Chinese, French, and Arabic.

According to the Hollywood Reporter Kashyap, at a panel at the Film Bazaar in Goa, said the role of Gangs Of Wasseypur as a Netflix series "reflects how digital distribution can play a role in expanding a film's audience after its theatrical release".

"The other advantage of a web series is that we do not need to deal with obnoxious censorship and we have creative freedom," Kashyap added at the festival.
