4. Kerala has achieved an Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) of 6 per 1,000 live births, which is comparable to any developed nation.

It is also the only Indian state to have a single digit IMR.

5. In fact, it holds the distinction of being the world's first "Baby Friendly State" by WHO and UNICEF because of its efforts to decrease infant deaths and diseases, and its support of breastfeeding.

8. Since then, the Kerala government has continued its efforts for the transgender community, with India's first transgender school and cafe opening up there.

The state also has a taxi service which only employs transgender individuals.

10. After setting the record for lowest alcohol consumption in 2015, Kerala bettered it in 2016.

In just 18 months, alcohol consumption dropped 20.27% and was lauded as effective government policy.

"The state has achieved 100% mobile density, 75% e-literacy, highest digital banking rate and broadband connection up to panchayat level," Kerala’s CM Oomen Chandy said.
