8 Perfect Places To Go On A Date In Toronto This Summer

Aren't you sick of Cineplex? ...It's okay if your best friend is bae too.

Posted on

1. Roll Play Cafe

You've probably already heard about Snakes and Lattes (and their new second location Snakes and Lagers), but do you know about Roll Play Cafe? It's convenient central-downtown location is the perfect place for the gamers-at-heart who want to stir up some friendly competition. If your wallet is feeling light and tight, food purchases include "free game play" weekdays from 11AM - 3PM.

Too far from home? Check out these similar places in different locations:

Further North: For The Win Cafe

Further West: Disgraceland

Further East: C'est What

2. Amsterdam Brewhouse

Googling "Toronto's Best Summer Patios" will most definitely land you on a list including this lakeside hot spot. What's better than sipping a little homemade beer in the sun? And with four waterfront patios, you'll definitely get a seat. Maybe you'd like to reserve a spot in the free (yes, I said free) tasting tour, running daily. There's even four large indoor dining spaces if you're feeling particularly vampiric.

Can't get enough of the patio life? Try:

The Thompson Hotel Rooftop

The Drake Sky Yard

Gusto 101

The Pilot

3. El Catrin

While patios are still on your mind... This Toronto restaurant was awarded "Best First Date Restaurant" and "Best Mexican 2014" by Dine.TO, so you'll want to put this one on your "must-visit" list. Located in the Distillery District, it serves authentic Mexican cuisine on a heated patio. Observe the unbelievably stunning Mexican mural while sampling from Canada's largest mescal and tequila bar selection.

More Mexican:

Playa Cabana

Los Colibris

La Carnita

4. Sky Zone

As awesome as eating all the time is, restaurants can get a bit repetitive. If you head a bit out of downtown towards Leaside, you'll reach Toronto's very own Sky Zone. This indoor trampoline park features "freestyle bouncing" and games of dodgeball. It's super fun even if you're not that fitness-savvy, and all it takes is a signed safety waiver and a pair of not-so-stylish shoes.

Even more action-packed date venues:

Go Karts at the Polson Pier

Ping Pong at SPiN Toronto

Rock Climbing at Joe Rockheads

5. Real Escape Game

Getting locked in has never been so exciting. Popularity in room escape games online and in the app store is no surprise, and this place brings the idea to real life. Don't think you'll be sitting and staring in one direction the whole time though, because the games are actually quite challenging and mentally-intense. Only 3% of players have made their way out (by winning, of course). Tackling a mentally-stimulating adventure, with a race against time, is the perfect way to bond with your significant other.

Toronto's "escape craze" is quickly increasing. Here's a few other games worth investigating:

Escape Games (includes horror themes)

Decode Adventures

At Escape

6. Flor De Sal

Feeling romantic? If you're prepared to spend a pretty-penny on bae (remember, oyster's are an aphrodisiac!), make reservations at Flor De Sal. Enjoy a candlelit dinner in an elegant but cozy atmosphere, featuring mirrors and marble. Executive Chef Roberto Fracchioni promises to impress with a wide selection of champagne, and a menu that changes seasonally.

7. The Rogers Centre

Go cheer for your city at a Blue Jays game, or better yet, your country at the Pan Am Games opening ceremony! Bonus points if you go to the Rogers Centre on a Day where they open up the dome #RoofStatus. The Rogers Centre is also hosting this summer's One Direction Concert... If your girlfriend (or boyfriend?) is into that sort of thing...

Air Canada Centre (Drake, Ed Sheeran, Kevin Hart, Ariana Grande, Shania coming up...)

Molson Canadian Amphitheatre (OVO Fest, Lana Del Rey, Nicki Minaj, Rascal Flatts, and Hunter Hayes to name a few...)

8. Archery District
