29 Things To Wear On An Airplane So Your Flight Isn't As Terrible

Because itchy sweaters and uncomfortable denim shouldn't ruin the sheer joy that is an in-flight movie.

    1. A jersey-knit long tunic, perfect for travel because it can cover the top of your favorite (and most see-through 🙃) leggings but can easily be tucked into high-waisted denim for a more cropped look.

    2. A cotton sleep mask to block out the light that your seatmate has so rudely decided to turn on, even though this is an overnight flight and you're clearly trying to get some sort of sleep. Like, your book cannot be that good. Put it away. Read it on the return flight.

    3. An Invisibobble you’ll want to start carrying around on your wrist while traveling. This genius accessory will keep your mane out of your face without causing any dents; plus, the gentle design won't pull or tug on your hair. An uncomfortably tight pony = the bane of my existence.

    4. A V-neck tee made from a buttery-soft material that’ll have you swooning every time you slip it on. Add some stripes, a red lip, and voilà! Suddenly you’re ready for your trip to Paris, imaginary freshly baked baguette in hand.

    5. A hydrocolloid COSRX pimple patch because what do we want joining us on our Italian vacation we’ve been planning for months? Not a zit. Slap this baby on during your flight to reduce painful pimple swelling and make it practically nonexistent.

    6. A ridiculously soft hooded pullover to make it feel as if you're lounging around at home, as opposed to hovering approximately 1 billion miles somewhere up in the air.

    7. Skinny jeans made from a cozy, stretchy denim that will make even your leggings seem uncomfortable. Plus, they're available in the perfect dark wash — the kind that looks super put-together even when you are not, in fact, feeling put-together.

    8. A knit jumpsuit you can easily dress up with a pair of pumps while on vacation and then — *breathes sigh of relief* — you can cab it to the airport, take off said pumps in the comfort of your economy seat (lol), and go straight to sleep. This versatile piece is that cozy.

    9. A knit cardigan you'll be able to slip on and off depending on the unruly temp of the airplane you've just boarded...although you'll likely want to just keep this on the whole time. I have a feeling your seatmate plans on blasting the overhead AC for the duration of your flight.

    10. Allbirds wool sneakers that are so incredibly soft and cozy, you'll feel like you're walking on the FLUFFIEST cloud imaginable. These shoes also have a padded insole, a super-lightweight sole...and the laces? They're made from 100% recyclable material.

    11. An elastic belt sans buckle — that way, you won't feel a piece of metal digging into your belly button while you're eating your delicious in-flight meal. Mmmm, fresh pasta that has definitely not been frozen for a significant amount of time.

    12. A T-shirt dress so ridiculously soft, your body will feel as if it's being enveloped by a fluffy cloud made of kittens and other ridiculously cute baby animals. Plus, this cozy maxi is the perfect thing to throw on preflight and is *super* easy to dress up.

    13. Reliable high-rise leggings with a soft waistband that thankfully won't dig into your skin the second you take your economy seat. Plus, they're squat-proof and made with a moisture-wicking material that won't make you feel as if you're stewing in your own sweat (*cue airport running scene from Home Alone, which you absolutely just re-created because you thought you were going to miss your flight*).

    14. Eye masks that will de-puff, moisturize, and brighten even the darkest of eye circles. Traveling may wreak havoc on both your sleep schedule and your complexion, but pop these on while enjoying your in-flight pretzels to look as if you got a full eight hours of restful sleep.

    15. A crew neck dress with pockets (!!!!) that will basically feel like an extension of your coziest, most beloved blanket. Pair this with leggings for the ultimate airport #ootd *or* slip on some over-the-knee boots for a look that is immediately dinner date ready.

    16. A multiuse Glossier skin salve for long-lasting hydration that even the recycled air aboard the airplane won't be able to ruin. Long gone will be the days of you fishing through your overstuffed backpack because of your need to reapply.

    17. A comfy V-neck jumpsuit perfect for any time, any place, and any location. It's made with a snazzy, wrinkle-resistant fabric that will always look as if it was just picked up from the cleaners (which it most certainly was not), meaning you'll be able to hop off the plane at LAX and head straight to brunch.

    18. Mini hair pins to give you the ballerina bun of your Swan Lake–loving dreams. Just one of these little pins can do the work of up to *20* hair pins, meaning the joy of your in-flight movie won’t be ruined by excessive random pins digging into your scalp.

    19. Silicone sleeves you can slip on over the arms of your eyeglasses to prevent all headache-inducing discomfort that comes from your frames digging into your head.

    20. A pair of black flats that will not clash with anything in your closet, so you’ll be able to throw on any hue/print/style without fear of being stopped by the fashion police. (I know, I know, you usually wear black, but these are great to have just in case you decide to wear some fun colors.) Plus, they're genuinely comfy enough to be worn on international flights.

    21. A neck pillow designed to help your head remain upright and prevent your noggin from falling down whenever you begin to snooze. Neck soreness after taking a quick airplane snooze = now gone.

    22. Lightweight Baleaf jogger sweats with a tapered silhouette that look *way* more polished than your old high school gym pants, but are thankfully equally comfortable.

    23. Disposable silicone earplugs that'll help you bid adieu to flying discomfort. Ear pain during air travel is REAL (babies are crying for a reason), but these nifty little things are the perfect way to help curb harsh noises and my-ears-are-popping altitudes.

    24. A cowl-neck tunic for the perfect blend of comfort and versatility. This may feel like a cozy pajama top, but you'll also be able to confidently leave your house while wearing it.

    25. A no-tie lacing system that is durable and adjustable and conforms to your foot for a personalized feel. Long gone will be the days of having to take your sneakers off at the airport security line just to panic while trying to re-lace them as quickly as possible. With this system, you just have to give a tiny pull in the middle of your sneaker tongue and you'll be on your merry way in no time.

    26. A mini cushioned Ostrich Pillow you can slip on over your hand for deep sleep that feels genuinely restful (no small feat on a turbulence-ridden plane). Prop open your tray table, rest your hand, then rest your head. *falls asleep immediately*

    27. A V-neck Soma bralette that feels like another layer of skin because it is just that damn soft. And on top of the overwhelming coziness factor, this layer won't be visible under your clothes and is (*le gasp*) actually supportive.

    28. A hooded teddy because your favorite blanket probably can't be stuffed into your carry-on. Solution? This soft fleece jacket! Not only will it keep you feeling toasty, but it's also reversible — two jackets for the price of one, baby!

    29. A Lano leave-on flyer mask formulated with lanolin, mint, caffeine, and ginger. In English? That means that your skin will be hydrated, dewy, clean-feeling, and awake — even though you had to leave your home at night for the budget red-eye flight you booked.
