14 Pairs Of Jeans That The BuzzFeed Shopping Team Truly Loves

Hunks of denim truly worth your coin.

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Just so you know, BuzzFeed may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

    1. American Eagle high-waisted jeggings made from a stretchy denim material that is *gasp* even comfier than your leggings. Sounds blasphemous, but I promise it's true.

    Maitland Quitmeyer / BuzzFeed

"I know that I'm not alone when I say I hate jeans shopping. I'm more of a skirts or dresses person — or, let's be real, a black legging–pants person. I have only one other pair of jeans I *ever* wear, so when I popped into American Eagle and brought several pairs into the fitting room (mostly against my better judgment), I was blown away by their high-waisted jeggings. They are for real SUPER high-waisted — like, actually-hit-above-my-belly-button high-waisted. TL;DR: I found love (amazing jeans) in a hopeless place (the denim department fitting room), and I want to shout it from the rooftops.

These babies are snug and a not-too-spandexy kind of stretchy. Made of a thick cotton-based denim, they feel way more like jeans than jeggings, so I absolutely have to do the ~skinny jeans dance~ to get them on. But when they're *actually on*, they mooooove with you and you can really dance in them! So comfy! They are super skinny through the ankle, hug in the right places without stretching out, and they even lift your booty up — 🙌. My waist-to-hips ratio (smaller waist, bigger hips) usually makes finding well-fitting jeans hard, but these never gap at the waist or back and don't get stretched out between wears (because who remembers to wash their jeans that often, amirite?).

As for length, I'm 5-foot-4 and had to cuff the regular ones up (I happen to like the way a little cuff looks). If I wanted to wear them uncuffed, my second pair (duh, I'm totally buying another pair) would have to be the short inseam. But they offer FOUR length options, so you're bound to find the right ones for you. The rips in the knees are subtle — they don't really show when you're standing straight up — so they add a nice dose of toughness to a regular outfit without feeling like totally destroyed jeans. I kind of can't stop wearing these. Basically listen to Maitland: Buy these jeans and say hello to effortless dressing. (Note: Seems like they are sadly no longer available in black, but are available in a dark-blue wash and other washes/styles here.)" —Maitland Quitmeyer

Get them from American Eagle for $37.46 (available in sizes 00–20, in short, regular, long, and X-long lengths).

    2. Mott & Bow mid-rise skinnies that truly fit like a dream. Plus, the available dark blue hues are truly *chefs kiss* — they're the kind of jeans you can easily dress up for fancy occasions.

    Jennifer Tonti / BuzzFeed

"Let me start by saying I LOVE THESE JEANS! Now let me get into why that's a big deal for me.

Trying on any new clothing gives me anxiety. My weight has fluctuated my entire life, and finding the perfect jeans has always led me to Struggle City, population: me. In high school I weighed 60-plus pounds more than I do now, and when I lost weight, I thought shopping would be a breeze. In some ways it was easier, but a lot of my anxiety around shopping still remained. For the longest time, I didn't shop for a style I liked — instead I shopped simply for anything that would fit. Still to this day, almost nine years later, I struggle with finding the style I love most and often resort to "Well, this fits." The people I work with have such bold and beautiful looks that I'm inspired every day to push myself past my history of discomfort. I'm still working on my style, and so far it's somewhere in between "carpool mom" and "please notice I'm a lesbian."

So a pair of new pants was my next goal, starting with this fabulous pair of Mott & Bow mid-rise skinny jeans! Beyond the fact that they hug in all the right places and are a perfect fit, the color and design are a style I like, and I feel so sexy in them. (Jeans that fit are awesome, but jeans I feel sexy in are even better!) If you're someone who has also struggled with shopping anxiety, just know you're not alone! <3 And hey, maybe these jeans will make you feel as great as they make me feel; Mott & Bow also offers a free at-home try-on program to help you find the best fit." —Jennifer Tonti

Get them from Mott & Bow for $108 (available in sizes 24–32, two inseams, and five washes).

    3. Levi's 501 skinny jeans that are white and not see-through. That's right, a round of applause would be appropriate right about now.

    Yi Yang / BuzzFeed

"I normally don't believe in splurging on jeans because the couple of pairs I got from Forever 21 in college are still serving me well after many years of washing and wearing. But when I found these Levi's 501 skinny jeans on sale, I decided to try them and see what the hype was all about. After owning these jeans for about a year, I can say it was money well spent! The quality of the denim feels premium — there's not a whole lot of stretch but just enough that it hugs my legs and waist perfectly. It has a button-fly, which I normally don't love because it can look bulky, but this one actually lays perfectly flat. For someone who's on the taller side, finding jeans that graze my ankles is incredibly hard and these do just that (28-inch inseam).

Perhaps the best part about these white jeans is that they're not thin and see-through — I'm actually wearing black underwear in these pictures but you can hardly tell! It's amazing. After an entire season of wear, they still look brand spanking new (I'm also careful not to spill on them) and haven't stretched out at all. (NGL, they're actually a little tight now that I've spent a couple months at home.) If you love really stretchy denim, these are probably not for you but if you like not-overly-rigid denim that keeps its shape over time, then look no further, friends! (P.S. The exact pair I'm wearing is no longer available but the same model comes in a variety of colors, and there's a very similar pair in white with distressed detailing.)" —Yi Yang

Get them from Levi's for $49 (originally $98, available in sizes 23-32, and in eight colors).

    4. Warp + Weft JFK jeans responsible for finally converting a very passionate pants-hater. These babies look put-together whilst still being super comfortable, hence the JFK title — they're cozy enough for long airplane rides.

    Elena Garcia / BuzzFeed

"I hate pants — no, detest them. I worshipped at the altar of denim mini skirts in the early aughts and 'discovered' dresses in college. Since then, I haven't looked back except for an occasional pair of black jeans. (Even I relent to leg prisons when it's 6 degrees Fahrenheit in NYC and I must be outdoors long enough to walk to the train.) One of my best friends didn't see me in pants until four months into our friendship. So I'm not kidding around with this sentiment.

A few months back when the direct-to-consumer denim line Warp + Weft launched, they gave me a pair to try. I thought I'd wear them a few times and then they'd collect dust in the far reaches of my closet like my other jeans. I was wrong! The material has give without stretching out and has proven itself in a variety of settings, like my desk (where I sit in all kinds of weird contortions), economy airplane seats (on several trips), and a rodeo on vacation (for real). And they're incredibly flattering! I've received lots of compliments on them and not just the 'Omg you're wearing pants!' variety, either.

The price tag of $98 may make some balk — especially if you, like me, are used to buying Old Navy jeans when they go on sale for $19 — but there's a vast difference in quality. I've even been wearing shirts that I forgot I had (like this Urban Outfitters gem, pictured, from ages ago). Consider me a convert, though I won't be burning my dresses in a symbolic bonfire, either." —Elizabeth Lilly

Get them from Warp + Weft for $39+ (originally $98 and select styles currently on sale, available in sizes 00-24, and nine washes).

    5. Levi's 711 skinny jeans considered a wardrobe staple by the masses. These no-frills jeans are solid quality, the kind you'll still be wearing several decades from now.

Former BuzzFeed Writer Ignacia Fulcher wearing the black jeans
    Ignacia Fulcher / BuzzFeed

"Firstly I’d just like to say that I really love denim, and jeans especially. A good pair of jeans instantly gives you a put-together look without having to try too hard. Since I love looking as good as possible without any work involved, jeans are my go-to. I went through so many brands before I settled on my classic Levi’s — Old Navy, American Eagle, Seven for All Mankind. You name a brand and I probably slid them up my legs, was briefly happy, and then shortly after, super unhappy. I have really thick thighs, a small waist, and short-ass legs, so finding a pair that did these three basic things (made my butt look good, actually stayed at my waist/hips, and had the right inseam) seemed to be impossible. As a side note, women’s sizes are a fucking joke, I know it, you know it, we all know it.

One day while I was on my online-shopping bullshit, I came across the Levi website and saw a black pair of their 711 Skinny Jeans. They seemed so cool in the pictures, and you can never have too many pairs of skinnies (I said to myself as I entered my credit card info for this impulsive purchase). When they arrived a few days later they felt super sturdy, and when I put them on, holy shit did they do everything I needed to do, and then some! I got the short inseam, so they hit at my ankles, and the rise was high and tight enough so they can sit at my waist without falling, but loose enough that they don’t cut off my circulation when I sit down.

After a week or two of wearing them (not consecutively because, ew), I immediately bought two more pairs in a light and dark wash and I was impressed yet again! I love all of them so much, and they make every outfit look AMAZING. Plus, the great thing about Levi’s is you can literally dress them up or down. I’ve gone to semi-formal events in my black jeans and a blazer, and went grocery shopping with a simple T-shirt and jacket. Not only that, but it’s my personal mission to look like a rocker at all times, so when I pair these with my favorite leather jacket, I have a timeless look and ego no one can argue with. So if you want denim that will genuinely stand the test of time — so your kids can go through your closet in 20 years and find for an awesome pair of vintage jeans — look no further!" —Ignacia Fulcher, former BuzzFeed Shopping Writer

Get them from Levi's for $41.65+ (available in 24 colors and sizes 14-26).

    6. Madewell curvy jeans thoughtfully crafted with a longer rise, slightly more narrow waist, and a hint of extra room at the hip and thighs — no more gaping waistbands or having to go up a size to get the perfect fit for your legs and booty.

    BuzzFeed / AnaMaria Glavan

"I love good denim but sadly, good denim is hard to find, particularly if you have an hourglass figure. Gaping waistbands and denim with no retention is actually the bane of my existence and I struggle (oh how I struggle) to find a pair of jeans that don’t suck. And while the journey was long, I have finally found them: the Madewell curvy jeans.

These jeans are thoughtfully designed with a contoured waistband (read my lips: no more gaping) and purposely have extra room in the asset and thigh region so that you won’t have to go up a size in order to get something that fits your legs but is just way too big on your waist. Just think: No more belts digging into your belly button! I’ve also washed and dried them a million times and they’re literally the exact same as they were the day I bought them." —AnaMaria Glavan

Get them from Madewell for $69.50+ (available in sizes 24-37, petite, regular and tall lengths, and 16 colors).

    7. Mid-rise Madewell skinny jeans with a super subtle rip that come in petite, regular, tall, and taller lengths — no more trips to the tailor if you're 5-foot-4 or below, no more overly exposed ankles if you're 6-foot or above.

"I am OBSESSED. They are SO comfortable. Like comfortable enough that when I get home from work I don't even want to take them off to put on leggings. Yep, that's right they feel like leggings, which is amazing in my opinion. Plus, they don't stretch out in that way where they're too big after a couple of wears. In fact, the jeans themselves say to wait up to 10 wears before washing." —Abby Kass

Get them from Madewell for $128 (available in sizes 23-37 and in petite, regular, tall, and taller lengths).

    8. DSTLD skinny jeans available in the ideal mid-rise. If you're not into the whole ~high-waisted~ craze, these sit at the perfect point on your waist and are super stretchy to boot.

    AnaMaria Glavan / BuzzFeed

"I prefer high-waist jeans, but they can be a bit uncomfortable when it comes to sitting at a computer desk all day. Plus, I find the high waist is unnecessary when it comes to certain tops — like, if I'm wearing an oversized sweater, what's the point? No one will see the rise, right? Those are the times in which I break out these mid-rise DSTLD jeans: I love them so much. They're low enough that my rib cage doesn't feel as if it's suffering, but high enough so that I can rest assured my underwear isn't being exposed. A happy medium indeed.

They seriously make me feel like I’m wearing a pair of leggings that happen to have pockets and a zipper. Plus, I’ve washed them a ton of times times and the retention is amazing — they fit exactly like they did the first day I wore ‘em. But the best part? They show absolutely no signs of wear and tear in the thigh area and are incredibly comfortable." —AnaMaria Glavan

Get these jeans from DSTLD for $85+ (available in sizes 24–32 in petite, regular, and ankle lengths and in two colors).

    9. Levi's Wedgie fit straight jeans with great retention, a fabulous tapered leg, plus they make your ~assets~ look fantastic. What more does one need!?

    Melanie Aman / BuzzFeed

"If you told me I could only wear one pair of jeans for the rest of my life, I would hands-down choose my Levi’s Wedgie fit jeans — no other pair comes close. These jeans tick all my boxes: they cup my butt nicely so it doesn’t look like a flat pancake, they hit at the perfect spot on my ankle whereas most jeans are too long on my weirdly short legs, and they don’t lose their shape over time — no matter how many weeks I go without washing them (don’t judge me, OK?) I own multiple pairs and am guilty of buying them when they’re on sale, regardless of whether I actually need a new pair. Who am I kidding, I always need a new pair!" —Melanie Aman

Get them from Levi's for $68.60 (originally $98, available in sizes 23-32, nine colors, and two lengths).

    10. Everlane kick crop jeans for anyone who's ready to stray from the skinny jean trend that has haunted their wardrobe for the past several years. But like, only slightly.

    Everlane, BuzzFeed

"I left behind bootcut in middle school, and have been exclusively wearing skinny jeans since high school. I find that high-waisted skinnies are almost *always* flattering and I've never felt the need to stray. HOWEVER! I've been getting kind of sick of wearing the same boring old silhouette on my legs, so BAM! I decided to try out the Everlane kick crop jeans. Final verdict? I love them!

First, you can tell these these jeans are some quality pants. They have a slight stretch to them, but feel super sturdy when you're sliding them on. Like, these will not tear at your thighs after a couple of wears. Second, I've washed them a ton of times and the black has not faded at all. And third, the fit itself is fantastic! These jeans stay skinny through about mid-calf, and they flare out just a teeny bit — I feel like this style actually elongates my leg, and they're easy to wear with any top in my closet. I've worn these at least 908 times and will probably end up ordering 'em in white." —AnaMaria Glavan

Get them from Everlane for $78 ($150 traditional retail, available in sizes 24-33 and in four colors)

    11. Levi's ribcage straight jeans that come up to — as the name would imply — your ribcage. These are ideal for anyone who prefers truly high-waisted denim. None of that "comes up underneath my belly button" nonsense.

    Maitland Quitmeyer / BuzzFeed, Levi's

"I am an exclusively high-waisted bottoms person. No ifs, ands, or but(t)s about it, I refuse to wear anything else. I have some high-waisted jeans I love, but both pairs really just come up to my belly button, and it'll sometimes pop on out if I'm wearing a crop top. No biggie, but I was looking for a pair that came up FURTHER. So I went into Levi's last year and tried on just about every "high rise" pair in the store. Seriously. And these straight Ribcage jeans were just the ticket. Stiff enough to look like jeans instead of jeggings, a slight crop and straight hem at the bottom to differentiate from my skinny jeans, and a SUPER HIGH rise. Like my belly button is a full inch below the top of the jeans. It takes me a minute to get into them and button the button-fly, but that's what ensures a nice fit for my waist-to-hip ratio, which *usually* results in the dreaded WAIST GAP. I love the color and the level of distressing (aka not much), and they make me feel like a ~cool girl~ when I really just about never feel like one. If you're looking for super high waisted jeans that still...feel like jeans, I 100% recommend these." —Maitland Quitmeyer

Get them from Levi's for $49+ (originally $98, available in sizes 23-32, two lengths, and seven colors).

    12. Abercrombie & Fitch jeggings you'll want to purchase with a side of bread. This stretchy, comfy denim? It's smoother than butter.

    Christina Lan / BuzzFeed

"I think pants are stupid, but a girl’s gotta wear them from time to time, and my ride-or-dies are my Abercrombie jeggings. I know what you might be thinking: Sarah, are you a high schooler? Are you still obsessed with overly perfumed, dimly lit shops? And the answer is no, I’m a grown-ass adult who still unironically shops at A&F, because over the years they’ve revamped their style (bye, moose logos and polos in every single color!) and answered the call of 'do better' (ahem, there is zero room for racist, skinny-favoring, and elitist CEOs).

They’re comfy as heck, stretchy as heck (i.e., the waistband doesn't cut into my circulation or food babies), and durable as heck. I’ve had mine for five or six years, maybe — so many years that I've lost count! I'm honestly surprised I haven't formed any holes in the butt area yet. I could totally work out in these if I had to. The texture is so soft (almost buttery!) and melds perfectly with my legs wear after wear; nothing annoys me more than skinny jeans that get baggy in certain, small areas. My exact pairs aren't available anymore, but I dig the plain back pockets more. That means I’m overdue for a new pair, right? Even though mine are fine?

One teensy note: I have disproportionally short legs (I'm 5-foot-5 for reference), but unlike every other jeans brand I've tried, I didn’t absolutely need the 'short' length. It ultimately doesn't matter that much, but it'll make me feel a little cooler (taller?) when I buy my next 'regular' pair. The little things, LOL." —Sarah Han, former BuzzFeed Shopping Writer

Get a pair from Abercrombie for $39+ (originally $78, available in sizes 24–32, three inseams, and 15 washes and styles).

    13. Good American skinny jeans designed with a high waist, sure — but they also have the right amount of stretchiness that makes 'em comfortable for sitting at a computer desk all day. That's right, rib cage. You can breathe.

    Good American

"I had been itching to try a pair of jeans from Good American and I’m so glad I finally committed — they’re my new favorites. I strictly only wear high-waisted jeans, I feel like they’re most flattering on my body shape, but many brands’ versions are super uncomfortable to sit in all day. Not, GA! Their waist bands are stretchy, but not * too * stretchy, so they don’t cut into my stomach and never look unintentionally baggy. I’m also pretty short so the fact I had the option to order a petite size and not have to get them hemmed was a HUGE bonus for me. I’ve already bought two more pairs." —Heather Braga

Get them from Good American for $99 (available in sizes 00-24).

    14. Mott & Bow high-rise jeans for anyone trying to get in on the ~mom jean~ trend. These are a great pick because of how great the retention is: They're soft, structured, and won't stretch out after a few wears.

BuzzFeed Senior Writer Elena Garcia wearing the light blue jeans
    Elena Garcia / BuzzFeed

"I have a very tumultuous relationship with denim. I carry all my weight in my tummy area and not at all on my legs, so finding a pair of jeans that fit AND that are comfortable often proves very difficult. They'll tend to dig into my waist, make me look bulky, or stretch out way too fast. I’ve managed to find a few pairs of black skinny jeans that stay comfy throughout the day, but when given the option between denim and any type of elastic-waist pant, I've nearly always picked the latter.

Desperate to get in on the mom-jeans trend, I decided to try these Mott & Bow jeans, and boy am I glad I did. I had basically given up on being able to wear high-waisted cropped jeans until I found these. They’re really freakin’ awesome!! They’re soft but still structured, stretchy but hold their place, blue but not a fake-looking-denim blue. The picture above shows my fifth time wearing them (for at least eight hours a day) without washing them (gross, yes — but it’s for research) and they’re still in pretty great shape!" —Elena Garcia

Get them from Mott & Bow for $118 (available in sizes 24–32).
