Make your own post!Susan Boyle in the Semi-Finals
Susan Boyle moves from Les Mis to Cats in her performance of "Memory" in the Britain's Got Talent 2009 Semi-Final Rounds. She may have understood being miserable more than being a cat-lady, but it was still pleasant. Whether or not high expectations hurt her remains to be seen.
Maggie Simpson Speaks!
Maggie Simpson speaks! This time she is voiced by Jodie Foster as part of a retelling of Ayn Rand's "Fountainhead" on "Four Great Women and a Manicure". Technically she was "Maggie Roark, an architect who refused to compromise."
Internat'l Women's Day is Barbie's Birthday!
Women can celebrate progress by laughing at parodies of bad campaigns, right?
Little Mitch "the Grave" Lagravere: Bull Killer
"I'm happy to have achieved this great victory," said Michelito Lagravere, before leaving the bloodied bull ring in Merida, southeastern Mexico. 6 young bulls entered the ring, between 1 and 2 years old. Only 2 calves, however, left: the ones between the 11 year old matador's knees and ankles.
With a Name Like Vince Offer, Infomercials Were Inevitable
In 2004, Vince Offer, an ex-Scientologist, sued the Church of Scientology, alleging it had declared him a criminal and had urged its members to "write false and malicious reports against him." This came after his film "Underground Comedy Movie" tanked. Technically UCM was a film The New York Post gave zero stars as they indicated it was what "may be the least amusing comedy ever made," but still! The honing power of adversity appears to have pushed him to focus on what is obviously his secret skill: the pitch. It's great to see people doing things at which they naturally excel. Even if sometimes they sound a little bit like a jerk. In this case, especially when they sound like a jerk.
Chelsea the Intern, Eh?
Rachel Maddow noted John Kerry's offer to make Chelsea Clinton an intern. Perhaps it was making too much of word choice? That being said, there are some giggles that come into play just hearing JK say "Chariman's Prerogative" in that context.
Come Here, Little Monkey Cat
SoBe paid over $4 Million for a 1 minute commercial slot during the second quarter of Super Bowl XLII. Evidently, the commercial featured lizards dancing to the song, "Thriller". I actually don't remember that, despite watching the Super Bowl mostly for ads. What I do remember, and actually have spent years looking for, is this series of radio ads that ran in maybe 2002 or so involving the appeals of a guy with an amusing accent and a penchant for rambling similes.
The Sounds of Manliness
Editable public soundboard portal. Presently, it mostly sounds like Sean Connery, mostly.
