Joaquin's has always been one of my personal favorite acceptance speeches. He put himself in such a vulnerable spot speaking about his brother like that and going up there to speak about injustice really felt so real. Rest in Peace River :)
I'd say anything by Darren Aronofsky. His work is so beautiful and meticulous, yet so haunting and impacting. (especially A Requiem for a Dream, it stuck with me for weeks)
I wonder what sort of blackmail Don't Look Up had on the Academy to be nominated for not just Best Picture, Original Score + Screenplay, but Best Editing?? That was one of the worst parts of the film!!
No one would agree with forcing sex because it's not something that could save your own and other's lives like the vaccine is. I understand your previous point, but it's completely unfair and illogical to compare a mandate of the two.
This and the age gap between the two characters definitely lowered my liking of the film. Everything else is pretty good though, so if you plan on watching just be ready for those type of things.
The film has some unnecessary jokes about the Asian people in the film which I found a bit annoying because they're Americans visiting Tokyo, making fun of people who live there because they can't wrap their heads around the culture or the different environment they're in. It also…Â
@RakishLass if you have no desire to visit a movie theater to watch the film, then why are you complaining in a previous comment about how Buzzfeed spoiled it for you? That's on you for wanting to wait until it's available to rent.
I absolutely hate to say this because I adore this film but the twist in Knives Out was always obvious to me. The twist itself was nearly-perfectly executed, but I always suspect the "black sheep" type of characters to end up being the killer and that's what Ransom's character was.…Â
