The historical stereotype of "The Strong Black Woman" has made maternal mental illness a major taboo in the black community.
Well, it's time we start talking about our mental health.
Were you on the receiving end of some serious side-eye when you spoke up about how your postpartum feelings went beyond the typical "baby blues?"
Perhaps you found it difficult to articulate all of those new mom feelings to someone who just thinks you need to get your life.
Or maybe you had no idea where to turn for help in the first place.
