From country sweetheart to edgy chic, the superstar has always ruled the VMAs.
Taylor's first appearance was in 2008. She interviewed celebs on the red carpet and rocked a glittery gold dress and black flats for the occasion.
She then changed into a blush pink dress with a long silver necklace and matching heels. Iconic.
Oh, 2009. The infamous event that divided the nation. We know it well. Taylor arrived in a carriage wearing a sparkly gown and red lipstick, a signature look for her at the time.
She then changed into a vintage-inspired red dress to go back and accept her award for Best Female Music Video for "You Belong With Me."
Taylor came back to the VMAs in 2010 after last year's fiasco with a heartfelt and barefoot performance of her song "Innocent" off her third album Speak Now. She performed in a strapless nude dress and vintage-inspired hairdo.
Taylor skipped the VMAs in 2011 but came back in 2012 wearing a fierce powerhouse suit and her now-signature bangs. The refined white tuxedo-inspired look was paired with gold Grecian heels and of course a red lip. This was Swift's first time wearing a suit on a red carpet, and yes, it was iconic.
She performed her hit single "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" in black high-waisted shorts and a red striped top.
For the 2013 VMAs, Taylor went full-on glam in a fitted deep blue sparkly gown, red lipstick, and shiny accessories galore. She took home a Moonman for "I Knew You Were Trouble."
2014 Taylor was a daring Taylor in a tiny and sleek alphabet printed romper. The "Shake It Off" hitmaker really embraced an '80s look to go with her then-new album 1989. Also: Her legs look AMAZING.
She then changed into a sparkly two-piece set for her performance of "Shake It Off." This silhouette would become an iconic performance piece during the 1989 era.
Taylor brought her squad to the 2015 VMAs and dressed up in a chic and sparkly two-piece long sleeve crop top and pant set. Her bold eyeliner and gaggle of friends stole the show as she took home awards for Video of the Year for "Bad Blood," Best Female Video for "Blank Space," and Best Pop Video for "Blank Space." Talk about a big night.
She also made a surprise appearance in a sparkly red number to sing a mashup of "The Night Is Still Young" and "Bad Blood" with Nicki Minaj.
Taylor didn't attend the VMAs after that until 2019 and showed up ready to stun in a bright, custom-made Versace look. Don't forget about the freaking amazing over-the-knee boots and her signature red lip, of course.
She wore a gold bustier-style top and sparkly blue hot pants for her performance of "You Need to Calm Down" before adding a structured blue blazer to sing title track "Lover" off of her seventh studio album.
That's it for now, though I'm sure Taylor will add a bunch of iconic new looks once the VMAs return! What's your fave look?
