1. We always end up where we are meant to be.
I've learned that we can't look too far into the future because it will never exist. I've also learned that we should accept the past because it happened and there is no going back in time or changing anything! We are exactly where we are meant to be in this moment, and it is our job to take in the beauty around us and learn from those who surround us.
2. Growing is painful.
Growing isn't something that is glamorized, growing pains are real on so many levels! Growing, by definition, means to become larger and greater over a period of time. Growing is a process and it is not easy by any means. I would be totally lying to you if I said it wasn't super challenging and extremely painful at times, but it is also more than worth the agony. When we grow, we become stronger and better. No matter where you are in life, if you are unhappy or unsure of how to proceed, you need to reevaluate. I've learned that growing is painful, but remaining the same is excruciating.
3. Being single can be fabulous.
Choosing to be single can be totally fabulous, if you choose to make it totally fabulous. I've learned that feeling lost is the first step to truly being able to live the life you want after leaving a life that you don't want. I've learned that you can't have the courage to follow your heart until your heart is truly free. Learning to love ourselves and discovering what we are capable of can be one of the best and most fabulous experiences in life.
4. We choose what, and who, we allow into our lives.
Sometimes, we have to give something up because it's too much to keep in our lives. Choosing the easy option isn't always the best option; just because something is easy doesn't mean it's worth it. In fact, I've learned that the best things in life aren't easily obtained. I've learned that the things most important and meaningful in life can often be the things that are the most difficult to obtain. I've learned to let go of the people and the things that don't produce happiness; it's difficult, but it is so totally worth it.
5. Smile, even when you don't feel like smiling.
A simple smile can truly make a person's day that much brighter and better. Every person has a story and is going through something that can't always been seen. I've learned that sometimes it can be the most important to smile when you don't feel like it because you never know who you will touch with a simple smile. You never know how or when people will come into your life, or how you will be impacted. More importantly, you don't know how you will impact their lives. So smile even when you don't feel like it because it may be exactly what someone else needs to make it through their day.
6. Have faith in a higher power.
I've learned to trust in the universe and accept that some things are meant to happen, and some things are not. I've learned how good it can feel to believe that there is a higher power helping us navigate through life. I've learned that there is strength within all of us that is greater than any challenges we may face. Everything happens for a reason and having faith in a higher power can provide some reassurance that everything will work out how it is meant to be.
7. We are all perfectly imperfect.
I've learned that you learn more about someone at the end of a relationship than at the beginning of a relationship. You also learn more about yourself, too. We are all perfectly imperfect in our own ways. When a relationship ends, material belongings may not be split equally but the problems that caused the relationship to end likely should be split equally. I've learned that without realizing and accepting our imperfections, it's impossible to move forward and expect a better outcome from any future relationships.
8. The best is yet to come.
Living with regret is an awful way to live. I've learned not to let to past dictate who we are, but rather to let it be a part of who we will become. I've learned how wonderful life can be when we are able to let go of the fear that comes from wondering what our future will look like and we begin to embrace each moment as our future is beginning to unfold right before our eyes.
9. Failure is a success.
Mistakes teach us lessons, and each lesson brings us one step closer to our goal. I've learned that sometimes the lessons to be learned come from failure. Failure happens for so many different reasons, but it's how we react to failure that is the most critical piece of the puzzle. I've learned that we can't live our lives being afraid to take risks and afraid to fail, we have to get out of our comfort zone to achieve success.
10. Don't spend time with people who don't treat you well.
Life is so very beautiful and we are so fortunate to experience the adventures of life with our coworkers, friends and family. I've learned that it is so very important to spend time with people who build you up and help you to become better. I've learned that sometimes, it is necessary to say no to simply mediocre friends, jobs and relationships. I've truly learned how incredibly important it is to surround yourself with people that bring out the best of you and truly make you a better version of yourself. Our time is a precious gift, and we should choose to spend it wisely with those who help us on our life's path. I've learned that we all should respect ourselves enough to walk away from anything and anyone who no longer helps us, makes us grow or contributes to our happiness.
