People Shared Tiny Movie Inconsistencies That Annoy Them And, Yup, I Can See Why

You can now not unsee these, sorry!

A little while back, we took a look at a Reddit thread that asked for small inconsistencies and plot holes in movies that bothered people. Their maddening answers resulted in even more great responses from our very own BuzzFeed Community. So, here are even more tiny movie inconsistencies that drive people nuts:

1. The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise

Walt Disney Studios

"In the second movie, Calypso mentions that she was the one who gave Jack the special compass, but then, in the fifth movie, they show him getting it from his captain?! WHAT IS THE TRUTH?!"

2. Monsters University (2013)

"The entire plot of the movie is that Mike and Sully meet in college, but in the original Monsters Inc., Mike says Sully's been 'jealous of his good looks since the fourth grade.' It's so small, but it drives me nuts!"

3. Gremlins (1984)

Warner Bros.

"The whole 'never get them wet' rule is fine...but why did Stripe have to jump in the pool at the YMCA when the entire village was covered with snow? Couldn't he have just jumped in snow?!"

4. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

Marvel Studios

"Sharon Carter is established as Peggy Carter's great-niece, but Peggy's only sibling died in the war and it's never once mentioned that he was married or had children. Even if Sharon came from Peggy's husband's side of the family, she wouldn't have the last name 'Carter.' This has bothered me for years."

5. Final Destination 3 (2006)

New Line Cinema

"In the girl's vision, one of her classmates has a camera and is recording and getting in everyone’s faces. He subsequently gets the camera knocked out of his hands, it wraps around the track and that’s how the big death event starts. HOWEVER, after her vision, the girl freaks out, so her and all her friends (camera boy included) get off the ride before it even starts. If there’s no camera wrapped around the tracks, how does the roller coaster still derail?!"

6. Lucy (2014)

Universal Pictures

"The entire concept of that movie is based on the 'fact' that humans can only use '10% of their brain at one time.' This is a myth and has been proven to be completely false, as humans are almost always using their entire brain all the time. So basically, the drug she takes to unlock her brain should have done absolutely nothing if that was all it could do."

7. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

Marvel Studios

"Does it bother no one else that at the beginning of this movie, Bruce Banner says 'Thanos is coming' to Dr. Strange, and he responds, 'Who?' In Thor: Ragnarok, Dr. Strange literally kidnaps Loki and Thor to let them know he's been monitoring possible threats to the planet?! HOW DID HE NOT KNOW ABOUT THANOS?! By that point in the movies, he had two infinity stones?! It didn't ruin the movie for me or anything, but it still bothers me."

8. Home Alone (1990)

20th Century Fox

"It's so small, but why didn't the mom just call the house? Kevin probably would have picked up..."

9. Cinderella (1950)

Walt Disney Studios

"Why didn't her glass slipper disappear at midnight along with all the other clothes her Fairy Godmother provided? Also — if it was such a perfect fit that it could be used to literally identify her — why did it fall off in the first place?!"

10. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)

Sony Pictures Releasing

"In the original Jumanji — even though Sarah, Judy, Peter, and Allan all play together — when they win the game, Allan and Sarah go back in time and it's like the game never happened, so Judy and Peter have no memory of it when they are born. But, in the new one, the four kids still remember the timeline that existed when Alex was missing. If everything went back to normal, wouldn't they never have known?!"

11. Bird Box (2018)

"The birds always chirped when someone who was possessed was around, but when Gary was around, the birds acted like he was normal. It doesn’t make sense at all."

12. Inside Out (2015)

"When Joy and Sadness asked the brain workers for directions, they sent the triple dent gum memory up to headquarters. So...why couldn’t they just jump in that tube? Or, at least, send the core memories up for safekeeping? Joy could obviously fit in the tube (which she does later in the movie). Other than that though, I thoroughly enjoyed the film!"

13. Liar Liar (1997)

Universal Pictures

"At the end, it's revealed that — because the wife lied about her age and was a minor at the time of her marriage — their prenuptial agreement is null and void, making her entitled to half the marital assets in a divorce. BUT, wouldn't this also mean that her marriage contract is null and void, so she would be entitled to nothing?!"

14. Divergent (2014)

"How does Tris not recognize Four? They grew up in the same faction. They’re roughly the same age. Their dads work together."

15. The Mummy (1999)

Universal Pictures

"It is established in the middle of the movie that Imhotep fears cats until he fully regenerates. So why don’t any of the people who were present to receive the curse just carry a cat everywhere with them until they figured out how to kill him?! That drives me nuts every time. Like, I KNOW it’s a movie about mummies and curses, but come on! Other than that, it’s one of my favorite movies."

16. Mamma Mia (2008)

Universal Pictures

"Sky says he’s against the idea of a wedding because he wants to save his money for traveling and — at the end of the movie when Sophie calls everything off — his reaction is visible relief...but they're literally at the altar already, so everything must have been paid for at that point?!"

17. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2014)

Marvel Studios

"The bad guy is Peter's dad, who is a literal god and an entire planet is his body. So, you're telling me he wouldn't feel a bomb being lodged inside him? I can think of hundreds of ways Peter's dad could have thwarted their plan. I love the Guardians team, but was so mad about this at the theater."

18. And finally, Fast and the Furious 9 (2021)

Universal Pictures

"This movie isn’t even OUT yet, but in the mean to tell me that the Torretos — the biggest 'family means everything' people ever — ignored a brother for their whole lives?! He doesn’t look ANYTHING like Dom or Mia, but is suddenly back and wanting revenge?!"
