If This Clip Of Will Smith Singing "Friend Like Me" Doesn't Convince You He's The Perfect New Genie, Nothing Will

I will be using all three of my wishes to get this soundtrack.

We are mere WEEKS away from the release of Disney's live-action Aladdin, and the hype is getting REAL, to say the least.

One of the most anticipated parts of the film's release is finally seeing Will Smith's Genie in ALL of his marvelously blue glory, AND seeing exactly what his interpretation of the iconic character will be like.

Well this week, when Will stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he treated us to a taste of his Geniestyle, and prepare yourself, it's GREAT:

Will started by opening up about how he had reservations about taking on the role ("reservations" here meaning he straight-up just turned it down initially), given the GIGANTIC shoes he'd have to fill.

Will knew from the beginning that Robin Williams would be a difficult act to follow, since people were already attached to the way he'd portrayed the character. He only wanted to take on the role if he felt like he could "add" something to it.

But he quickly realized he DID have quite a bit to add as soon as he started changing up the iconic songs.

Now, everyone who grew up with the original Aladdin is familiar with this genuine bop. It's the best song in the movie (don't start) and an absolute blast of a scene:

Anyway, Will talked about how he took influences from his own personal taste to make the song uniquely HIS style, which helped him figure out how he'd fit into the wish-granting role.

So that's when, out of NOWHERE, he treated us to a little ~sneak peek~ of his take on the song and, WHEW BUDDY, is it AWESOME.

Seriously, scroll up and listen to it in the video!

In short, if the final version of the song in the film sounds ANYTHING like the version he sang here, we're all in for a treat. May 24 cannot come quickly enough! Also, where's the soundtrack?!
