"The Witches" Remake Has A Trailer, And Based On The Perfect Cast, Someone's Been Reading My Diary

Hathaway! Spencer! Tucci! Mice absolutely everywhere!

Listen — any child of the '90s remembers the absolutely nightmare-inducing film The Witches. Come on, you know it...it's the one where ANJELICA HUSTON PEELS HER FREAKIN' FACE OFF.

Anyway, as a little pre-Halloween treat, HBO Max delighted us all with the first trailer for the film's remake, and Y'ALL, Let's! Talk! About! This!

The story, which is based on Roald Dahl's book of the same name, follows a young boy (Jahzir Kadeem Bruno) living with his positively delightful grandmother (Octavia Spencer).

All seems to be going swimmingly until the boy accidentally stumbles upon a coven of child-hating witches — which, as you know, every town probably has.

The incredibly stylish witches — led by the STUNNING Anne Hathaway as the Grand High Witch — devise a plan to get rid of all the children by, well, turning them all into mice, of course! And the effect is absolutely horrifying! I'm! Going! To! Have! Nightmares! Tonight! And! I'm! Almost! 30!

Also, we always LOVE to see a little The Devil Wears Prada reunion, since Stanley Tucci is in the film as well! And based on the incredible costuming in this film, I think it's safe to assume that Anne is, in fact, wearing the Chanel boots.

Plus, we get Chris Rock narrating the entire story. Seriously, this entire cast is immaculate! Who's been reading my diary?!

And — as if all of this weren't reason enough to check out the film — not only was it directed by Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, etc.), but the screenplay was cowritten by Zemeckis, Kenya Barris, and Guillermo del Toro! So you know it's going to be equal parts funny AND creepy!

Overall, the trailer is definitely serving up some deep nostalgia vibes, and I would like absolutely every outfit moved to my closet right now, immediately, please and thank you!

So there ya have it! Be sure to catch The Witches when it hits HBO Max on Oct. 22, just in time for Halloween!
