"What's black and blue and dead all over? You."

OKAY! SO! AWESOME RIGHT?! There's a lot to unpack here, so let's hop right to it!

The trailer begins with an intense police squad approaching an almost empty diner, before aggressively arresting a man (Paul Dano) drinking a very ~*questionable*~ beverage:

Then, we see who I can only assume is James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) standing near the batsignal in the rain while the familiar voice o' vengence narrates overhead.

Next, the man, the myth, the Batman (Robert Pattinson) finally makes his first appearance while he positively demolishes a band of criminals.

Still, IMHO the most exciting part of this new trailer is that we finally get our first real looks at a lot of beloved, classic characters, including Andy Serkis as Alfred:

Alfred in a vest and tie

Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle (aka, Catwoman) — and may I just say...give the casting directors every possible award right now:

Selina with shoulder-length hair and a tank top

And speaking of awards — we also get a better look at the completely unrecognizable Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot (aka, Penguin):

And, of course, we get our first glance at this Batman's Batmobile — which is pretty sick if you ask me:

(On a semi-unrelated note, fans are already positively losing their minds over Robert Pattinson's "Batman voice," and for good reason. It's incredible.)

his batman voice im losing it????

The whole thing looks like a beautiful marriage between the delightfully campy Batman movies of yesteryear, with a healthy dose of the Dark Knight trilogy still injected in, and I for one cannot WAIT to see it!

So, there ya have it! Be sure to catch all of the awesomeness when The Batman hits theaters in March 4, 2022!
