There's A New "Saw" Movie Coming Out Starring Chris Rock And Samuel L. Jackson, So Just Take All Of My Money Now

Yes, you read all of those words correctly!

ICYMI, back in May 2019 it was announced that Chris Rock (yes, THE Chris Rock) would be teaming up with Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures to reboot the Saw franchise.

Remember when we used to get a new Saw movie every single Halloween? We took that for granted, y'all.

Anyway, the first teaser for the film — ominously titled Spiral: From the Book of Saw — dropped today and, holy heck, y' looks INTENSE:

The film follows Detective Zeke Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella), who have taken on a brutal murder investigation.

According to the film's official plot synopsis, the police force is becoming increasingly concerned about these murders, as they "are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past," which means that — while this is NOT a reboot or sequel — it does take place in the same universe as the previous films.

As this is a teaser trailer, there's not a ton of exposition, but we do get a good feel for the tone the film is going for — which seems to be even GRITTIER and DARKER than the originals.

And, as if all of that's not enough to get you hooked, we also have Samuel L. Jackson playing a police veteran, delivering this twist on an iconic Saw staple line:

This line is truly John Kramer's "here's looking at you, kid."

But I digress. The trailer ends with another familiar shot for fans of the franchise, with Detective Banks waking up with his arm handcuffed to a wall chance of escape:

Naturally, I wasn't the only horror-head pumped for this:

I was into that trailer for Spiral: From the Book of Saw when it decided to be Seven but Saw, and then they had Samuel L. Jackson say: “You want to play games motherfucker.” I’m there. Haven’t bought the ticket. But I’m in. Let’s go.

But I think we all really know deep down what the true selling point of the film is:

‘I’m just not sure it’s worth the money rebooting saw’ ‘Samuel L Jackson will say muthafucka in it’ ‘Here is 700 million dollars’ #Spiral

So yeah, there ya have it! Be sure to catch Spiral: From the Book of Saw when it hits theaters May 15!
