As an avid lyric lover, I'm often taken aback by how many people seem to completely miss the messages of lyrics in songs that seem pretty straightforward, just because the music in the song may be catchy or upbeat.
So, with that in mind, what's one song that it feels like every person alive misinterprets the meaning of? One that people often play or reference at inappropriate times, proving they don't even realize what the song is about?
Maybe you can't believe politicians still regularly blast Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the U.S.A." at rallies like it's some patriotic anthem, when it's actually about a disenfranchised Vietnam War veteran.
Or perhaps you're tired of hearing Green Day's "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" — a spiteful, sarcastic ballad about a bad breakup — played completely straight and unironically at every high school graduation ever.
Heck, maybe you're still haunted by that time Apple used Pixies' "Gigantic" in a commercial for the iPhone 5S, when it's 110% A SONG ABOUT SEX.
