What Jump Scare Is So Perfectly Executed That It Deserves Some Kind Of Award?

"And the Oscar goes — OH JEEZ, YOU SCARED ME!"

Listen, I'm a simple lady who loves two things: jump scares* and making fake Academy Awards categories for no other reason than my own enjoyment.

So with that in mind, if there were an Academy Award given for "Best-Executed Jump Scare In A Motion Picture," which jump scares definitely would've taken home the gold?

Maybe you'd nominate something classic, like the iconic chase sequence from Wait Until Dark (1967).

Or perhaps your pick is from something newer, like the now-infamous tongue-click in the car in Hereditary (2018).

Heck, maybe your top choice is from a film no one would ever expect to be terrified in the middle of, like when Bilbo's face gets all freaky in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001).
