*Also, WARNING: Given the nature of this post and the question being answered, there is DISTURBING CONTENT ahead. We have opted to include screenshots from the scenes and link out to the full scenes in the titles should you wish to view them. Please proceed with caution and take care of yourself!

    2. The disappearing body parts scene, Looper (2012)

    TriStar Pictures

    3. The curb stomping scene, American History X (1998)

New Line Cinema / ©New Line Cinema/Courtesy Everett Collection

    5. The needle stack scene, Saw II (2005)

    Lions Gate / ©Lions Gate/Courtesy Everett Collection

"A man pushes a woman into a pit of used syringes and she has to wade through them to find a key while being stuck by needles. All the while she’s screaming and crying. It was horrifying."

    6. The opening scene, Saving Private Ryan (1998)

    Dreamworks / ©DreamWorks/Courtesy Everett Collection

"I watched that movie when I was 12 and I felt like I was going to vomit. It was so awful and intense. The part where the man is lying on the beach, trying to hold in his intestines in while screaming for his mother especially fucked me up."

    7. The ritual scene, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)

    Paramount Pictures

"When the one guy has his heart ripped out of his chest by the leader of the group. It scared me as a kid, and — to this day — I skip over that part when I watch the movie."

    Columbia Pictures / ©Columbia Pictures/Courtesy Everett Collection

"It’s not even especially gory. I just hate hearing him scream."

    Paramount / ©Paramount/Courtesy Everett Collection

    11. The first torture scene, Hostel (2005)

Screen Gems / Screen Gems/Courtesy Everett Collection

"That first full torture scene especially gets to me because I know a guy who resembles the guy in the chair!"

    12. The piano wire scene, Hereditary (2018)

"When Toni Collette's character severs her own neck with a piano wire while she's — MIND YOU — hanging from the ceiling like a goddamn psycho. Also, how hasn't this woman won an Oscar?!"

    13. The "degloving" scene, Gerald's Game (2017)

    Netflix / ©Netflix/Courtesy Everett Collection

"I watch a lot of horror movies and I'm not really all that squeamish. That said, I could have gone without seeing the degloving scene in this movie for the rest of my life."

    14. The electric chair scene, The Green Mile (1999)

    Warner Bros / ©Warner Bros/Courtesy Everett Collection

"The execution that goes wrong, you know the one. It makes my heart and stomach sick just thinking about it."

    15. The assault scene, Don't Breathe (2016)

Screen Gems / ©Screen Gems/Courtesy Everett Collection / Everett Collection

"When the blind man catches the main girl, takes her downstairs to the basement, and is about know...with the turkey baster."

    16. The disemboweling scene, Shaun of the Dead (2004)

Rogue Pictures / Rogue Pictures/Everett Collection

"A character is disemboweled and torn limb from limb by zombies. I can deal with the rest of the over-the-top gore in that movie but I have a thing about guts. I still can’t watch it."

    17. The "get in my car" scene, Nocturnal Animals (2016)

© Focus Features /Courtesy Everett Collection

"I can't bring myself to watch that movie for a second time yet the memory of that scene is still with me years later, especially when I’m in a car at night. Just thinking about it makes my heart beat really fast."

    18. The baby scene, Mother! (2017)

© Paramount Pictures /Courtesy Everett Collection

"If you’ve seen it, I think you know which scene I’m taking about. If you haven’t seen it...a baby gets murdered and eaten."

    19. The boat scene, Dante's Peak (1997)

    21. The vivisection scene, Event Horizon (1997)

    Paramount / ©Paramount/Courtesy Everett Collection

"There's a horrible scene (of many horrible scenes in this movie) where Jason Isaacs' character is hung up and vivisected. It's been years and I still wish I could unsee it — and worse, the only reason I watched the movie in the first place was because he's one of my favorite actors!"

    22. The face smashing scene, Pan's Labyrinth (2006)

    Picturehouse / ©Picturehouse/Courtesy Everett Collection

"The captain smashes in the face of a suspected rebel. I thought after one or two hits, it would stop, but then it just kept going. I didn't know a lot about the movie so I thought it would just be, like, a gothic fairy tale. That scene felt like it came out of nowhere and really set the tone for the rest of the film for me."

    23. The cliff scene, Midsommar (2019)

    © A24 / courtesy Everett Collection

"This whole movie was disturbing, but, in particular, the scene when the elderly couple jumped off the cliff at the end of their 'life cycle.' The man doesn't immediately die so a member of the group has to bash his head in with a giant hammer! Are you kidding me?! And to make it worse, there was cut scene depicting the physical damage to his body. That imagery haunted me for days."

    24. And finally: any of the crime scene scenes, Se7en (1995)

Peter Sorel / (c)New Line Cinema / courtesy Everett Collection

"That movie crossed a line for me. My husband and I could barely speak to each other the week after we saw it. We were both so upset."
