Here Are The 13 Best Horror Movie Jump Scares Of All Time

Maybe turn down the volume on your headphones before clicking this one.

Hi, I'm Allie, and if you take even ONE brief glance over my BuzzFeed profile, you'll quickly understand that I'm a bit of a horror lover.

So, with this in mind, I've decided to take it upon myself to rank what I believe are the top 13 best ~executed~ horror movie jump scares of all time.

DISCLAIMER: For the purpose of this post, I am sticking to the HORROR genre only. There are some awesome jump scares in non-horror films (like Pee Wee's Big Adventure, for example) but I am a mere mortal woman, so I can't do every movie ever.

Anyway, buckle up, buttercups — HERE WE GO:

    13. The Conjuring (2013) — The Wardrobe Witch

    12. Signs (2002) — The Birthday Party

    11. Alien (1979) — Bye Bye, Captain Dallas

    10. Wait Until Dark (1967) — The Leap

    9. The Thing (1982) — The Defibrillator

    8. Jaws (1975) — The Head

    7. The Descent (2005) — The Come-From-Behind Monster

    6. It (2017) — Beverly's Bathroom Break

    5. Friday the 13th (1980) — JK, Jason Lives

    4. Carrie (1976) — Also JK, Carrie Lives

    3. Psycho (1960) — The Staircase

    2. Audition (1999) — The "No, Thank You" Sack

    1. The Exorcist III (1990) — The Nurse And Her New Friend

Okay so...which ones did I miss? What's YOUR number one jump scare of all time? Sound off in the comments below and — in the meantime — happy haunting, my spooky friends.
