    We recently asked members of the BuzzFeed Community, "What's your most awkward/hilarious 'Whoops, I accidentally watched a movie sex scene with my parent(s) and/or guardians' story?" and, WHEW BUDDY, they did not disappoint. Here are just a handful of the most delightfully awkward and hilarious stories shared:

    1. Brokeback Mountain (2005)

    "The year is 2005. My in-laws are Southeast Asian immigrants who came to the US in 1980. Though their kids grew up VERY American, they stuck to their traditional culture and were super-conservative Christians. They had never seen a movie in the theater before, so my husband (then boyfriend) decided to treat them to dinner and a movie to celebrate 25 years in the states. Well, one of the biggest movies that came out that year was this one...so he took us all. Needless to say, the car ride home was very quiet. They’d never talked about that night, ever. Flash forward to 2015, when a cousin came out as gay and my father-in-law reacted to the news by saying, 'Oh, so he goes fishing on the ‘Broken Back Mountain!' I died, y’all."

    "My dad was a huge animation nerd, and a big fan of the animated version of The Hobbit. He heard a movie was coming out by the same illustrator and really wanted to take us to see it. I was 13, my brother was 15, and my dad took us to this shady theater to see a movie about a cartoon woman, Holli Wood, who can become human only if she orgasms while having sex with a human. Every single other person in the theater was a middle-aged man."

    "I was visiting my grandparents (I was 19 at the time and they were in their early 80s) and we were looking for something to watch. My grandpa came across this and he said, 'Oh, I read this book, let’s watch it!' Despite the many graphic sex scenes, we sat through the ENTIRE THING. Then, when the movie was over, my grandpa said, 'Well, I don’t remember all that happening in the book!' and my grandma replied, 'It’s called Cold Mountain...I didn’t think so many people would have their clothes off!'"

    "When I was younger, I took ballet lessons, and my grandmother ALWAYS picked me up from school and took me to those lessons. It was a weekly bonding activity for us for years. Fast-forward to my freshman year of high school, and I'm at my grandparents' house having dinner with them and my dad. Grandma, feeling sentimental about our ballet lesson days, decided to rent an 'artsy ballet movie' that she'd heard was popular. And that's how I came to watch this in its entirety with not just my father, but my grandparents as well. My grandmother was mortified, my grandad was stoic (except that his face got progressively redder throughout the movie), and father was laughing hysterically the entire time."

    "I’m 23 now, but when I was younger, I ALWAYS got to pick the movie at the theater when I'd go with my dad...and he ALWAYS fell asleep. EVERY TIME. Anyway, the first time he picked the movie, it was this one. He certainly wasn’t asleep when the main character had sex with the popular girl in an alley by a dumpster. It’s burned in my brain: My dad’s expression, his 'I’m so, so sorry,' and his 'Hey, maybe you should go to the bathroom now because you really shouldn’t see this.' After that day, he was never allowed to complain about being forced to see Jeremy Sumpter being dreamy in Peter Pan three times in theaters with me ever again."

    "When I was 13, I begged and pleaded with my super-strict dad to take me to see this, which was rated a HARD R. He finally agreed, and I was so excited because it was going to be my first rated-R film to see in theaters, plus blood and gore is awesome to us weird teenage girls! Anyway, I remember nothing about that movie except for the first 15 minutes where a guy and girl are banging and she’s screaming, 'Fuck me harder!' over and over and over again. Pretty sure a part of me died in the theater that day."

My father just returned from a business trip in California, where he heard about this popular 'new movie' and he's going to take my mother, brother, and 13-year-old me to see it. I'm sitting on the aisle, then my brother is next, then my father, and finally my uptight, comically conservative mother. I think it was the train scene when I finally noticed her, blocked by my father, waving her arms frantically and whispering angrily at me to 'shut my eyes.'     "During the pandemic, I’ve been staying with my parents. We all love a good action movie, so when this new movie came up on Netflix, it seemed like an action-packed, kidnapping, gangster movie based on the description. I was so uncomfortable the entire time. There were SO MANY sex scenes all the way up until the end, and now I will forever remember how my mom thinks oral is 'Gross!'"
