People Shared Their Most Aggressively Unpopular Movie Opinions And, Whew Buddy, They're A Lot
Just...brace yourselves for this one.
We recently asked members of our BuzzFeed Community, "What's your most aggressively unpopular opinion about an incredibly popular movie?" and, WHEW BUDDY, they did NOT hold back. Here are just a few unpopular opinions sure to start battles in the comments:
1. "Not even Tom Hanks can convince me to watch Forrest Gump (1994)."

"It doesn't sound the least bit interesting, it just sounds kind of weird? And yet, every time someone new finds out I haven't seen it, they look at me like I have a second head?"
2. "I can’t stand Ryan Reynolds' voice, so Deadpool (2016) is unwatchable for me."

3. "Grease (1978) is okay at best, but Grease 2 (1982)? Amazing."

"It's a feminist classic with way better songs ('Cool Rider' is my jam)!"
4. "Mean Girls (2004) has to be the worst teenage high school movie ever. "

"Cady was WAY worse than Regina. That Aaron guy shouldn’t have ended up with Cady, he deserved way better than her toxicity. Also, what kind of pathetic drama was the Burn Book?"
5. "Inception (2010) is just a poorly done heist movie."

"It has the exact same hijinks as a typical heist movie with none of the fun, character development, or creativity. We deserve better 'it happened in a dream' movies."
6. "Step Brothers (2008) is one of the worst movies I have ever seen."

"People constantly quote this movie, and praise it as one of the funniest films ever made. I just don’t understand it? It's crude, predictable, overlong, and most importantly, not funny. A waste of two huge talents."
7. "Bagheera was a great protector/parent for Mowgli in The Jungle Book (1967)."

"Honestly, without Bagheera, Mowgli would have died MULTIPLE times. Screw that little brat who never listened!"
8. "I actively despise Avatar (2009)."

"I saw it in 3D, hated it. Saw it regular, also hated it. It was too long and super boring. The special effects failed to cover up a shitty plot and mediocre acting. I can’t believe it was nominated for so many Oscars."
9. "The Breakfast Club (1985) actually has many faults and should not be upheld as this classic teen movie."

"Yeah, at some points it was thought-provoking, but some of it was also incredibly offensive and sexist. It does not hold up."
10. "The Shining miniseries is infinitely better than The Shining (1980) movie."

"Kubrick's version is an overrated film that cared more about the aesthetic than it did about the actual story. It loses all the scariness due to Kubrick's ego."
11. "The Dark Knight Rises (2012) is A LOT better than The Dark Knight (2008)."

"The plot was more exciting and, even though Heath Ledger's Joker was great, Tom Hardy's Bane still was a good challenge for Batman. It also introduced Robin and Catwoman as independent, strong characters."
12. "It was good that Jack died in Titanic (1997)."

"There was no way that he and Rose would have been endgame. Their relationship was solely founded on the thrill and adrenaline of their circumstances (both before sinking and during the sinking of the ship). Had they both survived, they wouldn’t have stayed together anyway."
13. "The Harry Potter film series was ruined by its use of CGI."

"Looking back on it now, it doesn’t look good, and all the CGI takes away any magical feelings."
14. "The recent Ghostbusters (2016) wasn’t awful, it was just forgettable."

"People acted like it was the worst movie ever made, but it was just kind of a mediocre popcorn-muncher. The writing couldn’t decide whether it was a reboot or a continuation, and the leads were written very flat. If you put male actors in with those same lines, it still would've been cringey."
15. "Oh my God, The Blues Brothers (1980) is SO boring."

"I know so many people who loved this, and it has five stars on everything. The music was decent, but the jokes were bad, the plot was rubbish, and the second half of it was just Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi being chased by the police through a shopping center. It does not deserve the praise it gets. Literally the most boring film I've ever seen."
16. "Independence Day (1996) has the laziest plot of any movie ever made."

"Oh, so they just happened to develop a computer virus that also worked on alien tech in a few hours?! I guess the aliens were using space-Windows and forgot to update the anti-virus program before crossing the galaxy."
17. "Lara Jean should NOT have ended up with Peter in To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You (2020)."

"Peter proved to be selfish and hung up on his ex! John Ambrose McClaren deserved better, he showed Lara Jean a magical night AND was willing to be there for her, even after Peter was a jerk to him in the tree house! I love Lara Jean, but picking Peter was stupid!"
18. And finally, "Toy Story 4 (2019) was complete trash."

"The storyline was weak and the other toys (like Buzz, Jessie, Rex, Mr. Potato Head, and Bullseye) were barely in it. Forky was really annoying, and Woody acted completely out of character. He would never have left all his friends to adventure with Bo. I absolutely hated it and was so disappointed."
