We recently asked members of our BuzzFeed Community, "If there were an Academy Award for 'Best Choreographed Movie Fight Scene,' which badass on-screen fights would have DEFINITELY won?" and they DID NOT disappoint. Here are just a few of the fight scenes that would like to thank the Academy:

1. Oldboy (2003) — The Corridor

"The best fight scene of all time. It's intense, messy, and even clumsy at times, just as a real fight can be. The scene is a masterpiece."
2. Thor: Ragnarok (2017) — The Bridge

"The moment when Thor flies down onto the bi-frost, lighting blazing, while Led Zeppelin’s 'Immigrant Song' plays?! It's so powerful, and award-worthy for sure."
3. Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (1999) — The Duel of the Fates

"That movie gets a lot of hate, but the fight scene between Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Darth Maul is epic, and John Williams' score is perfect."
4. The Princess Bride (1987) — The Cliffs of Insanity

"The sword fight between Westley and Inigo was done completely by the actors themselves after training 10 hours a day, and they got so good at it and so fast that they had to ADD choreography to the fight during filming to make it last longer. All of the swordplay moves they mention are actually executed in the fight, and it's just a damn cool fight between the two coolest characters in the movie."
5. Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015) — The Church

"The stylized action is fun to watch, it's super-bloody without being grossly over-the-top (just fun over-the-top), and the scene was perfectly edited to match the music. Also Colin Firth’s opening line about being a 'catholic whore' is probably my favorite movie quote of all time."
6. Black Panther (2018) — Korea

"It’s got to be the full scene in Korea. How could you not love the way it was shot? Plus Okoye, Nakia, and Shuri being the backbone of T’Challa’s posse...we absolutely love strong black women and strong black men who know their worth! (Also, bonus points for the super-cool car chase after!)"
7. Eastern Promises (2007) — The Sauna

8. Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004) — The Bride vs. Elle
View this video on YouTube
"I see a lot of love for the first film, but this scene gets overlooked. They’re evenly matched the whole fight, and right when things start looking bad for the bride...SNATCH! Out comes Elle's eye. Its my favorite fight scene of all time."
9. Mission: Impossible — Fallout (2018) — The Bathroom

"The whole scene is amazing and choreographed SO well. Still one of my favorite fight scenes to this day."

11. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) — Helm's Deep
View this video on YouTube
"It's epic on every level, from the intense build-up to the breathtaking conclusion. You feel the fear of the people hiding beneath the mountain, and the thrill of the battle itself. Also, there are some amazing one-on-one combat scenes, as well."
12. Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) (2020) — The Boobytrap Battle

"The whole movie was amazing, but the finale fight was outstanding. Each woman had a moment to shine and, when they came together, I wanted to cheer! Not only did the actors do all their own stunts, this is also the scene with 'The Hair Tie' exchange, making the whole thing a true standout."
13. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004) — The News Team Battle
View this video on YouTube
"Hands down. It's so funny and well-executed with random cameos from so many hilarious actors."

15. John Wick 3: Parabellum (2019) — The Knife Fight

"Honestly, pretty much every single fight scene in both movies...Iko Uwais is an absolute BEAST."
17. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) — Street Fight
View this video on YouTube
"Hands down, when Steve fights the Winter Soldier and realizes that he’s actually his best friend Bucky (who he thought was dead). The fight choreography is INSANE, the tensions are HIGH, the heartbreak is REAL."
18. The Matrix (1999) — The Rooftop
View this video on YouTube
"The jujitsu spar scene, in tandem with the rooftop fight in which Neo dodges his first bullets. The choreography of the first scene and camera work of the second has influenced a myriad fight scenes since."
19. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019) — The Break-In

20. The Protector (2005) — The Hotel
View this video on YouTube
"Unbroken awesomeness. One long shot of Tony Jaa fighting his way up four floors. It would 100% win this award."
21. Annihilation (2018) — The Lighthouse
View this video on YouTube
"It's not necessarily a 'fight scene' in the traditional sense, but when Natalie Portman has to go against...that thing...in the lighthouse, it's so beautifully choreographed and amazingly executed."
22. Inception (2010) — The Rotating Room
View this video on YouTube
"It was very well choreographed, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt was excellent in it. You'd never really seen anything like that before."
23. Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) — The Throne Room
View this video on YouTube
"When Rey and Kylo Ren fight all the guards after Kylo kills Snoke. The way they flawlessly fight together is poetic, and it deserves absolutely all of the recognition!"
24. Atomic Blonde (2017) — You know which scene
View this video on YouTube
"The seven-minute fight sequence in the rundown apartment building in East Berlin. For one, Charlize Theron does the majority of her own stunt work here, which is fantastic (and A+ work by her stunt double, Monique Ganderton, as well). Secondly, her character gets as good as she gives, growing weary as the fight drags on, making the scene more believable AND exciting. And thirdly, it is cut together very well, making for a lovely and memorable seven minutes of choreographed ass-kicking."
