Today is the international day of the world’s Indigenous peoples - a day dedicated to celebrating first nation culture across the globe.

This year’s theme is the right to education, something that Indigenous people around the world, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in Australia, are less likely to have access to than non-Indigenous people.

On Tuesday, the hashtag #WeAreIndigenous began trending on social media, here are 16 posts that show the beauty and diversity of the world's oldest surviving cultures.

The United Nation estimates that there are around 370 million Indigenous people in the world, belonging to over 5,000 different groups, in 90 countries.
