Here's What Happened When Shonda Rhimes And The Cast Of Scandal Took The Stage At PaleyFest LA

They laughed, they sang, and shit got ~handled~.

Last night, Shonda Rhimes and the cast of Scandal sat down in front of an audience of gladiators as part of The Paley Center for Media's PaleyFest 2016 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.

The audience was treated to an early screening of this week's episode, "I See You," followed by a panel discussion, moderated by Good Morning America's Lara Spencer and then an audience Q&A.

Here are some highlights from the event:

(While there are no spoilers about the upcoming episode, if you are not caught up on the current season, you might not want to read ahead.)

    1. Shonda Rhimes and her team have an end in sight for the series.

While not giving any specific timeline or plot points away, Rhimes said "We know when it ends and where it ends. We've talked about these things."

    2. When asked to guess the ultimate fate of his character, David Rosen, actor Josh Malina gave everyone a good chuckle with his ~hopeful~ answer.

"It could be a rarity — I'd like to see him die of old age."

    3. FItz might never find out about Olivia's abortion.

When asked by an audience member when Fitz would find out about the abortion Olivia had in the winter finale, Rhimes replied with "My question is, does he need to?" She went on to say, "A woman made a choice about her body that she legally has the right to make. I haven't decided yet, but I wonder sometimes. We talk about it a lot."

    4. Shonda Rhimes is more influenced by the musical Hamilton, than she is by current political events. Clearly, so is the cast.

    5. The cast members each named the character besides their own they'd most like to play.

Cornelius Smith Jr. (Marcus Walker): "I'd be the president"

Katie Lowes (Quinn Perkins): "Cyrus Beene"

    Guillermo Diaz (Huck): "Sally Langston"

Joe Morton (Rowan Pope): "David Rosen, because I have no love interest in this show and he has TWO."

Scott Foley (Jake Ballard): "Cyrus Beene"

Kerry Washington (Olivia Pope): "My favorite character on the show right now is Susan Ross, but I feel like I might want to be George." [Character Charlie played by actor George Newbern]

Bellamy Young (Mellie Grant): "I'm gonna go with Maya [Pope]. I think that would be extremely crazy...crazy fun."

Tony Goldwyn (President Fitzgerald Grant): "I'm gonna go with Mellie Grant."

Jeff Perry (Cyrus Beene): "I'd go with Susan [Ross] because it would be just refreshing to not be lying all the time."

Darby Stanchfield (Abby Whelan): "I'd like to be Papa Pope for a day."

Portia de Rossi (Elizabeth North): "I'd like to be Huck."

Josh Malina (David Rosen): "Because I think I'd be good at the role, season one — the guy at the White House gate...I wanna say Boris?"

    6. Katie Lowes sang a little Boyz II Men.
