    But there's one big donation we still don't know anything about.

    The Australian Electoral Commission has released its annual financial disclosure returns, which details all the donations given to political parties during the 2015-16 financial year. Here are the donations you need to know about.

    1. The Liberal Party received $15 million in the 2015-16 financial year, and the Nationals got $14.5 million.

    2. Chinese-linked company Hong Kong Kingson Investment Limited is the second-largest donor of the year, giving more than $710,000 to the Liberal party.

    3. Mining and coal companies donated more than $200,000 to the Coalition.

    4. Labor received $15.4 million, with its biggest donations coming from fundraising bodies and unions.

    5. The Liberal party received $715,840 from Parakeelia.

    6. Unions donated more than $2 million to Labor's coffers.

    7. The Electrical Trades Union also donated $292,727 to the Greens and $25,000 each to the Socialist Alliance and Jacqui Lambie Network.

    8. The Communications, Electrical and Plumbing Union also donated $25,000 to the Jacqui Lambie Network.

    9. The Rail, Tram and Bus Union gave $1000 to the Australian Sex Party.

    10. Labor's largest single private donation was $257,000 from media company Village Roadshow.

    11. Facebook Australia donated $16,500 to the Labor Party.

    12. A lot of companies, including TV Networks Ten and Nine, hedged their bets and donated to both political parties.

    13. The largest single donor to any party in 2015-2016 was mining millionaire Paul Marks, who gave $1.3 million to the Liberal Party.

    14. The second biggest donation of the year was $500,000 from Graeme Wood, the founder of travel website Wotif, to the Greens.

    15. The Greens reported $15.9m in donations.

    16. Top Education Institute donated more than $705,000 to Labor and the Liberals. That's the Chinese company that paid senator Sam Dastyari's travel bill... and got him dumped from Labor's front bench.

    17. Former Victorian Liberal state director Damien Mantach, who was jailed for almost three years for stealing more than $1.5m from the party, donated $535,086 back.

    18. Immigration minister Peter Dutton donated $50,000 and education minister Simon Birmingham donated $20,000 to the federal liberal party.

    19. Finance minister Mathias Cormann donated $20,000 to the Queensland Liberal National Party (even though he's from WA).

    20. Former Abbott minister Ian Macfarlane donated $69,500 to the Queensland Liberal National Party after he decided he wouldn't run for re-election.

    21. Greg Mirabella, husband of former minister and failed candidate Sophie Mirabella, donated $35,000.

    22. Bertocchi Small Goods, known for its bacon, ham and salami donated $76,000 to the Liberal Party. Delicious.

    23. The Palmer United Party received nearly $3 million in donations.

    24. And $1,821,344 of that money came from Clive Palmer or his mining companies Mineralogy and Queensland Nickel.

    25. Bob Katter's Australia Party received more than half a million dollars in donations including $75,000 from the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia.

    26. One Nation only managed to pull in $333,198 in receipts.

    27. Pauline Hanson loaned her own party $190,000.

    28. Derryn Hinch's Justice Party received $173,687 in payments.

    29. Ross Garnaut, author of the infamous Garnaut Climate Change Review, donated $15,000 to the Justice Party.

    30. Former Queensland senator Glenn Lazarus and his team received $240,000 worth of donations.

    31. David Leyonhjelm's Liberal Democrat Party received $20,000 from cigarette company Philip Morris.

    32. Nimbin Hemp Embassy donated $17,000 to the Help End Marijuana Prohibition Party.

    33. It wasn't in the AEC donations register but prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has revealed he donated $1.75 million of his own money to the Liberal party during last year’s election campaign.
