The typical Australian is a 38-year-old Australian born Anglo-Saxon woman, according to the 2016 Census. She is married, has two children and owns a three bedroom house.

The ABS has named the woman "CIaire". She also lives in a household with two cars.

The Census says the typical Aussie was born in Australia, as were their parents, and has English ancestry. They've graduated from year 12, married, have two kids and two cars.

One thing all typical Aussies from most state and territories have in common? They own a three or four bedroom home.

The ABS names the typical person from NSW as "Amy". She is a 38-year-old woman born in Australia and has English ancestry. Both her parents were born in Australia. She has two kids, owns a three bedroom home and has two cars.

The typical Victorian is "Louisa", a 37-year-old woman who was born in Australia. One of her parents was born overseas and she has a mortgage on her three bedroom home.

The typical Queenslander is "Jessica", a 38-year-old woman born in Australia with English ancestry. She also has a mortgage on her three bedroom home.

The typical South Australian is "Charlotte", a 40-year-old woman born in Australia. She has English ancestry and... a mortgage on her three bedroom home.

The typical Tasmanian is "Margaret", a 42-year-old woman born in Australia. Both her parents were born here, too, and she has a mortgage on her three bedroom home.

The typical West Australian is "Paul", a 37-year-old man born in Australia. One of Paul's parents was born overseas, and he has a mortgage on a four bedroom home.

The typical person from the ACT is "Lucy", a 35-year-old woman born in Australia. She has English ancestry and a mortgage on her three bedroom home.

The only place in Australia that breaks the mold is the Northern Territory.

The typical Territorian is "Mick", a 34-year-old man born in Australia. He isn't married, and rents a three bedroom home with his two kids.

In news that will shock no one, the typical Australian male is 37 years old and spends less than five hours a week on domestic work.

That's compared to the typical female, who spends between five and 14 hours a week on domestic work.

The typical Aboriginal or Torres Straight is a 23-year-old woman.

The typical migrant living in Australia was born in England and is 44-years-old. But that differs from state to state – in Queensland the typical migrant is from New Zealand, in Victoria they were born in India and in NSW they were born in China.
